Duke: Trinity Acceptances?

Hi, I was wondering if someone would mind telling me a little about the admissions statistics for Pratt? I just took the SATs for the first time and got a 2140, which I think is below average. I am a female looking to major in biomedical engineering, applying early decision. I have a 4.0 UW, about 4.33W GPA.
Class rank: About 7/190? Possibly higher, but definitely top 5-10%.

Other stats:
7 APs: AP Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Physics, European History, French V, Psychology
14 honors classes (all but electives--my school is new and offers only a select number of APs and Honors.)
ECs: I have been in over 15 theater productions in high school, started my own community service group that raised $5000 so far for homelessness, created a documentary on homelessness to supplement the project, member of an additional in-school community service club, in Mu Alpha Theta,New England Math League, Marine Biology, French Honors Society, French Club, a Harvard Extended Learning Opportunity, member of Windham Actor's Guild, and Varsity Swim Team.
Service: received a state-wide community service award, have over 250 hours of service, online tutoring of underprivileged kids and organized fundraisers for homelessness, donating time at shelters and walks, etc.
Awards: Community Service for New Hampshire Award, National Tutor of the Week, National Tutor of the Month, Varsity Swimming Achievement Award, 5th Place School Score Le Grand Concours, Certificat de R

I’m a little clueless about Pratt’s admissions statistics, but I can address the latter part of your post…

Being a twin, I asked during BDD how admissions worked with regards to comparing twin applicants (both my sister and I applied). Dean Christoph and my regional admissions director confirmed to me that twins are compared side by side when decisions are being made. Ultimately each application is considered as a puzzle piece in the greater class as a whole; if both twins fit the puzzle, then they’re both in. In fact, I know of a pair of twins in my class.

Anyway, your score is not bad at all; just retake the SAT and some subject tests. Also, though I’m sure your essay is great now, sleep on it for a few months. You might discover something later on that you hadn’t initially. Also, make your “Why Duke” compelling.

Best of luck! :)

Pratt has much higher acceptance rate but also much higher scores.

For class of 2012. School had 30-34 ACT. Pratt had 32-35 ACT.

Thanks so much to both of you! It definitely makes me less worried now that I know that we will be considered equally. I heard from some people that colleges don’t let twins in because they take two spots where instead two different families could have students with the spots or something different like that. My essay (one of them, I have 3 so far) is about my own experience with homelessness (I was homeless) and how it brought me to start a community service group that has raised $5000 so far, won a state-wide service award in NH, and create a documentary shown throughout NH on the effects and spread of homelessness and it’s importance. I didn’t make it sound overly sappy or anything and the tone isn’t “pity me” or something equally typical, but do you think that’s an okay topic? I am going to keep writing more essays over the summer and have my writing teacher help me decide which ones to ultimately use come fall, but it would be nice to have an outsider’s opinion :)

^that sounds like a really good essay. Maybe tie it to your education/future if it’s possible, buy you’ll have a Why Pratt essay to talk more about engineering.
