Does going to Duke for undergrad give you a minor/significant advantage when applying to Duke's grad/professional programs. Right now, I'm planning on going onto med school or grad school for biochem, and would possibly like to stay at Duke.

yeah, i'm hoping to stay at Duke for grad school for genetics. I hope it gives some advantage because I don't want to be obsessing over grades anymore as much as one has to do in high school to be competitive for college admissions.

I'm already concerned about grades...I plan to attend law school so yeah....

Lol the admissions process is a recurring nightmare.

being premed, i know duke med accepts around 10-15 duke undergrads/yr., which is a lot more than the other top 5 med schools. harvard usually accepts around 4-5, jh about the same, penn about 7-8, and wash u about the same. however, those 10-15 that get into duke med have really high qualifications and most are probably accepted to at least one or two more top 10 med schools, so its not like they get in undeserving based on their undergrad affiliation. you really have to earn everything at every stage.

I would love to know the same about Duke law admissions too, like if theres a site that says how many go to each law school

10-15 woop de doo! :)

anyone know about how many duke undergrad students pursue law? how many apply to duke law?

I asked this question when we did the information session and tour at Duke. The admissions director told us that no preferance was given to Duke undergraduate students in the graduate admissions process.

Dean Wilson said Duke kids have a higher showing both because more apply, plus they have rec's and connections to Duke law (i.e the law admissions people are more familiar with who's who on the Duke campus and are familiar with the course work)

I'm trying to look for numbers of how many Duke law applicants are going to which law schools

Fuqua likes Duke undergrads.
