Philosophy, Politics & Economics
Would economics itself count in this batch or only PPE specifically
Same question here. Applied economics major and heard nothing back.
Hi,
Just curious- were you asked to accept the offer immediately or given a couple of days? Thanks.
I was given a five day window to accept.
Thanks! That’s pretty decent- may even be able to visit to decide to take it or stay with current commit should an offer come.
Do we think that waitlist decisions will come out every 5-6 days because of the waitlist response period?
I saw in some other threads that most top schools hit their targets this year but fingers crossed that Duke will have more waitlist movement!
Will Duke take more ppl or they have hit their target?
Which threads did you see that in
Just a speculation that another wave of decisions may come out today/Monday. Since there has been radio silence (from what I’ve heard) since the last wave they may be waiting the 5 days people were given to accept/decline their offers!
Fingers crossed that we will all be hearing back soon
My son is on with waitlist. We welcome any thoughts on Duke versus Vanderbilt where he committed. He applied for Pratt and is interested in engineering, environmental science and technology.
I’m in the same boat but not engineering! I committed to Vandy but I’d go to Duke because it’s a bit of a better fit for culture-wise … have you visited campus yet?
We actually toured both Duke and Vandy pre-pandemic. It turned out to be the only two campus tours we were able to take! It’s hard to get a feel for the differences in the culture. We are coming from the Midwest.
Will we hear anything this week?
Both are great schools, you really can’t go wrong. Vanderbilt is a really nice location and the people are nicer, but Duke is more of an East Coast feel if that is your taste. In terms of engineering, Vanderbilt has more resources per students, but Duke engineering is ranked higher generally. Vanderbilt has a lot more specific programs for environmental science and their research output is considerable. I’d say financial aid would be the biggest deciding factor since both are exceptional schools, you really cannot go wrong.
I went to Duke and would say definitely Duke has more national and international recognition than Vanderbilt. I’ve lived all over the world and the US.
So is Duke still offering spots or is the class fully enrolled now, I haven’t heard anything. Hopefully all of us get a spot in the Blue Devil Class of 2025!
I received a email from my AO last Thursday which said “we always hope to be able to offer admission to some of those applicants who have accepted our waitlist offer, and at this time we are assessing just when we might be able to do so”
So does that mean that they are still working on them and we shouldn’t lose hope. I emailed my AO twice and she never responded.
