Duke vs. JHU Woodrow Wilson Fellowship

Hi I got the woodrow wilson research fellowship at johns hopkins but I also got into Duke. I was wondering if anyone has any input on where I should go. I am aiming for med school btw and I'm really into medical research. Here are my thoughts:

PRO JHU:
1. Great academics and research
2. Woodrow Wilson Research Fellowship (only 20-30 ppl get it each year)

CON:
1. Grade deflation, maybe cutthroat, and worse GPA for med school
2. Less free time, school spirit

PRO DUKE:
1. Fun and engaging place to be
2. I like the atmosphere better than JHU

CON:
1. No WW Fellowship

Please help me. I want the best chance to get into med school. I love research and WW fellowship is perfect for me, but I like Duke better.

Could there be any clearer dilemma between Academics and Quality of Life?

Note: I realize I am posting in the duke forum, but still.

My friend’s daughter finished from Duke with some type of scholarship and she got into all the 15 med school she applied to including Harvard and Stanford. I am guessing the opportunities in both schools may be equal. No bias stuff here as my daughter is also in a similar situation as you. Good luck.

Any chance that you’ll consider the MD/PhD route vs. the traditional MD-only route?

@SBR: yes, I am thinking of md/ phd because I love research too
