dumb questions

First.. I apolgizie to all of the kids applying. My concern is hopefully not the same as your concern for March 10th. But I have a middle aged Mom question that isn't very important.

If the schools are out in nowhere (like Deerfield), where do the girls go for manicures, pedicures, hair cuts etc?

Is this something most girls want to do or they don't care?

My D only gets her hair cut when she comes home for vacations. She and I go to the same hair stylist and she’s too devoted to him to go anyplace else. The reality is that her hairstyle is very simple and she could easily have it cut in Concord NH.

She does her own nails, brows, etc at school and I take her for a manicure as a treat when she comes home. Again, there are places in Concord (and anyplace else) where she could go but she chooses not to spend her money on this which is fine with me. Looking at the pictures it doesn’t appear that most kids go to salons at school - the hairstyles at the recent Winter Formal were definitely dorm-sourced.

If girls do their nails at all, they probably do it themselves and students come home often enough to get haircuts at home. I remember back in the 80’s a barber coming to school for the boys.

During long weekends I tried to visit and have a “spa day” with my D. The rest of the time she basically lives under a barrel. Pony tails, chipped nails, seem to be the way most go.

Rural BS often arrange weekend shuttles into the nearby town for students

This subject came up with my daughter also. She wants to cut her hair very short. I dont want her to because if at boarding school, it would be too hard to keep up. Not that she would be too remote, she would just not notice enough and the schools are in very small towns so I fear what the results would be.

Small things but its what we think about :)

PS, My secret fear is she shaves her head while I am not around to stop her. Good thing she does not go on CC or this post may give her ideas.

As a guy, this has also been bothering me

Thank you for making this thread. Ok, this is a really really really weird question. But where the heck do you take a shower?

In the bathroom

@MBVLoveless LOL

very funny… but really, the dorm bathrooms have multiple toilet stalls & sinks, and multiple shower (private) stalls. There may be a storage area to leave your shampoo/soap & hang up your towels.

Ok thank you, because I heard that there are no private stalls and I like my privacy

There are private stalls. It’d indeed be kindaawkward if there weren’t.

I think it’s fun if there werent :smiley: I mean REALLY fun:D

@hamburger, BS is not prison

@GMTplus7: hehe :D

Thank you all for answering my question about pedicures etc.

is there any time that occurs the so-called ‘‘toilet crisis’’?

FYI, not all schools have stalls. Some schools have communal showers in the boys dorms.

I cant live somewhere with communal showers.
Anyone knwos about - nmh-choate-loomis-taft- andover showers for boys?
