"Duplication with College Courses" - IB Chemistry HL vs CHEM 1A

Hello everyone!
I'm an incoming international freshman attending L&S. My current major is undeclared and I plan on applying for Haas.
Basically, I completed the IB diploma with a score above 30, and as stated in University of California - International Baccalaureate credits I will receive 20 semester units. Among the three high level IB subjects, I took IB Chemistry HL and received a score of 7.
My question is whether I will still be able to take CHEM 1A next semester and still receive 3 semester units while also satisfying the Physical Science breadth requirement. In other words, do these credits stack?
Many thanks!

I think they do, as a lot of people do repeat classes they already have credit for (premeds, for example). Like you, I got a 5 on the AP test and can pass out of Chem 1A, but I will still be taking the class during my first semester.

I see, thanks a lot!

at worst case, the units granted for an course taken pre-Cal, e.g. units for a Chem AP, might be taken away if you earn units for the Chem 1A class here later, but often they just stack.
