I can't score 800 on math.
I can finish any of the sections in a bit more than half of the time. Last problems ar also easy for me but I alwaysmake 1 or 2 silly mistakes. On november SAT I scored 770. I checked wach problem twice bur missed something.
Any advice?

My biggest problem is making sure I take the time to read and comprehend.

Sometimes I get too cocky, and think I know what the question is asking, so I go into autopilot. Don’t ever be too sure of yourself, even when going through to double check, don’t think that any question correctly.

It’s 4 hour exam. Not just testing your intelligence but also your mental stamina. Keep training yourself in exam conditions. Pace yourself so that you have about 5 minutes to look through your work.

It really is luck. Sometimes you’ll encounter more difficult problems in something you’re less familiar in, and other times you may not be in a good mood and make a simple mistake or two.

I can definitely sympathize: this month’s test had too much geometry for me and I basically panicked on a section. I ended up getting a lower score than I was scoring on practice tests before I started prepping for SAT (Got a 690, usually get around 770-800). It was my first score and I’m a Junior so I didn’t really mind but still, can’t believe I screwed up as much as I did :/

The exact same thing happened to me. 770, even though I was confident I did everything correctly. I think it’s a combination of luck, and concentration. One tip I got was to underline exactly what the question is asking for, and if it isn’t explicitly stated, write it out in your own words. I’d gotten 800s on almost every practice math section I took, so doing more tests won’t necessarily help you. Just make sure on test day that you really focus on everything you do. Good luck!

Same.
I got 740 in October (-2)
then 770 in November (-1)
but i got 800 on math II in december so i know i can.
its just that Silly mistakes are killing me
I’m taking it again in January so hopefully i can pull it off
I’m gonna try to finish each section in about half the time then redo it. hopefully that’ll work

My advice is to make sure you go over it all carefully. Actually read through the questions and work them out for a second time, looking for anything you might have missed. Make a note of your working while you’re doing them the first time so you can look for errors. I know some people who find it helpful to underline sections of the question that are relevant to make sure they don’t forget them.

Additionally, you want to take your time to be careful the first time round. If you interpret a question wrong once, it’s easy to skim read and think it says the same thing the next time round.

Generally, I find it’s a case of “practice makes you really frustrated unless you have a strategy for improving”, so I wouldn’t rush to do a lot of practice tests until you’ve worked out what you’re going to do differently.

(I’m not sure how much help that is, but it’s what I’ve learnt from the very exam orientated school system in my country.)
