My e-mail notifications of responses to threads I’ve subcribed to doesn’t seem to be working. Are others having this problem too?
I looked at your account, your set to instant notification, so you should get a email sent from my reply, i will watch the maillog as it goes out to you.

It appears you no longer exist, you might try fixing your email account in the usercp and set a valid email address for your account here @ CC.
OK, I’ve re-entered my e-mail address (it hadn’t changed, and it does in fact get other e-mail). Can you try again to get a message to me?
I’m sorry but i can’t force you to get a email, your service is rejecting the email from cc as saying your account don’t exist, thats not a issue with the site here.

anthony-
Ever since the site has been having its problems in the last week or 2, I’ve also lost my email auto-notification. Nothing has changed at my end. But as you know, the site seems to have been hit by the server gremlins lately- and maybe they did something to the auto notification
I asked my h (a computer guy) about this – he said it is most likely a rpoblem with your server not working the way it is supposed to. If you are switching servers soon (as Roger mentioned) maybe this will resolve itself. In the meantime, your tech support people should take a look at this problem.
I also stopped receiving email notifications around the same time
@ Chevda, im going to look into it further and make sure comcast isnt producing a fake msg to deter spam, but that is the msg im seeing from them on this email issue.
@ #18, your issue is that u use an aol address and aol is at times a little to strick on their incoming email, for instance, if one person that had an account here and still gets email even though they dont visit the site anymore and chose not to fix their account here at CC by opting to turn off email notification, if that user clicks that CC mail is spam one time in aol, aol instantly puts that email sender on a restrict list, then a blacklist if they dont get a form submitle explaining why we are sending “bulk” mail to aol, they will blacklist CC at aol.
Thanks, Anthony - my comcast e-mail now works. Appreciate it.
AnthonyG, thanks for your response
and for some reason, my email notification has also started working again
Your welcome.
Mine began to work again yesterday as well-- so again, given that all of us stopped and started getting the email notifications at the same time, it looks like the porblem was not at our end. Sounds like server problems.
@Jym, sorry, but when a host don’t send a true error msg back as to why the email was rejected, i can’t lay blame anyplace, i simply posted what was in the mail log at the current time.
Well, I hate to say it, but it’s not working again. Oh, well, I’ll use my alternate account again.
It should be ok now, i fixed the original issue after finding out why comcast was really rejecting the emails to you Chedva, looking at the error log again, they are once again reporting that mail to one email server of theirs isn’t happy with my correction.
Here are the issues:
Nov 13 13:51:56 talk2 sendmail[22283]: kADIpsC5022281: to=xxxxxxx@comcast.net, ctladdr=<nobody@talk2[ color].collegeconfidential.com=""> (99/99), delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=esmtp, pri=32262, relay=gateway-s.comcast.net. [204.127.202.26], dsn=5.1.1, stat=[color=red]User unknown</nobody@[color=red]talk2[>
If you look at the text in red, talk2 and the user unknown, the talk2 issue is from moving servers and me not paying attention, the user unknown part is a bogus msg from your host, it should state that they are rejecting the email for dns failure lookup of the sending host.
I do appologize for the issue and will make sure it’s resolved today.
sorry to be a pain, but my notifications are down once again, as well
Should be resolved.
The email notifications seem to be coming in overnight and in bulk. Do’t get them during the day, but when I get on line in the morning, there are a ton of them in my inbox. Can you explain?
Any mail issues over the past two days?
@jym
aol is very strict on incoming mail, so the mail that got blocked by aol from CC was sitting in the mail queue, each night the queue is ran, the mail in the queue gets delivered after the issue aol didnt like was fixed.
Its hard to tell whats wrong with out going mail when the ISP its being delivered to isn’t issuing as truthful reject message.
it’s been working great for me for the past two days or so
