I received an E-mailed Rejection letter from my top school, the University of Rochester. I was just wondering if that's "a thing" now? I thought all decisions came in the mail. I also read on their site that all decisions come in the mail. So, I'm a little confused..and wondering if it's a real e-mail?

Probably legit. Many email, then follow with a letter. If it is accurate, I’m sorry and know you will thrive at your second choice. You could check your status online. Or call to verify.

That was what confused me, though. Online, it says they still have no made their decision. I’m not sure if that’s a glitch or not. I may just be in denial…

I would call the admissions office and ask if admission decision emails were sent out. I would also ask my school counselor to contact the admissions office regional contact person - if it is a glitch, the college would like to know!
Good luck

If you check the Rochester board on CC, you’ll notice that all the acceptances are mailed. Don’t know about rejections or internationals, but I would post your question there and see if anyone is getting emailed rejections. Also, look very closely at the addresses on the “rejection”, or do View Source, someone may be messing with you. A really mean prank, but not unknown.

Did you apply under the school’s Priority Review program? If so, the timing is right, but as you said the school website says that admission decisions are sent by mail, so the fact that you received an email makes no sense. If you applied standard RD, the notification date is “by April 1” (mid to late March), so that’s two strikes against the email.

I did apply Priority Review so as you said the timing is correct…
