Hi there! I got accepted to U of M’s Stamps art school but was deferred from their LSA. I was planning on doing a dual degree but it looks like it may not work out.
Has this happened to anyone else? Should I hold out and hope I get accepted RD? Or if you only get accepted to one then they just don’t want you for the other?
If I ended up going to Stamps but then decided I wanted to switch my major to English or something, would I be barred from doing that, or would I need to reapply to LSA?
I don’t really know anyone who’s gotten this type of admissions decision. Help!

It is not clear whether the GPA requirement of 2.0 means admission to LS&A, or is just baseline eligibility for a competitive admission process to transfer to LS&A. Of course, there are other requirements like course work requirements and the like, as described. Ask Michigan’s LS&A division directly if you want to know.
Chill and relax.
UMich deferred tons of applicants this year. They’ll definitely be accepting some deferred folks in the RD round.
Wait to see if LSA accepts you as well and see what your other options are. You don’t have to decide on anything soon anyway.
