EA Admits:

When will we receive Fin. Aid info? When others get acceptances (Apr. 1) or earlier than that?

Mid-March for EA.

Yeah, I'm anxiously awaiting what they say. The amount of money they give me will be the determining factor in whether I attend.

Should I wait to tell them I have a full scholarship @ Michigan, or should I tell them now? (so maybe they'd kick up the finaid a couple grand)

Cool, I thought we had to wait until Apr. So prob within next week. We will need a Fin. Aid thread lol... Yeah $$$ is always the deciding factor, and we all know G-town's reputation with aid...

Hahahaha...yes, their infamous reputation with FinAid.

Supposedly in the letter I received after my acceptance letter, the date was set to Mid-March for EA.

Netshark2005: Wait until you get your finaid awards and then negotiate with Gtown. You can't negotiate a better deal if you don't know what the deal is. :)

Ooh I hope it's good finaid, because for me (too) that's probably going to be the deciding factor. :o

Yup..applies for all of us.

(OT: How do you make that face, calidan?)

:+o

take away the '+' (the second thing is a lower case 'O')

Thanks calidan.

I'm all prepared to do some negotiation already. Thats why I applied to a few RD schools that I don't want to go to as much as GTown.

Does anyone know if they guarantee to meet 100% of your demonstrated need? And they can't be worse than BC (at least I'm hoping not). But I wish they'd hurry up and tell us already, because money is the deciding factor for me too.

Question about negotiating:

Will you be doing the negotiating or will one of your parents be doing it?

Yes. they do meet 100% of your demonstrated need; but that means loans are included too. So if your FinAid need is too high and they can't just use grants and scholarships, they'll resort to loans.

Both parents and student should negotiate jointly.

How exactly do you approach negotiating? just call them up and be like "*** mate, I need more $$$?" or what?

My mom was told April 1st for FinAid info when she called, but that may have been because of some problems with the Non Custodial forms.

That I'm not too sure. But certainly bring tax forms, etc. And state that you really want to Georgetown, but due to financial factors and better offers, you might have to resort elsewhere. I'm not a FinAid counselor so I'm not quite sure how to exactly approach it.

According to the Financial Aid office, they will be sending out letters March 24th. I was at the Open House event in Feb.

Lazy, you might be thinking of regular applicants. We are talking about early admitted students. (pulls out fat envelope) Hmm...

"EA candidate who have requested...will be notified of their awards after their financial aid applications have been received and evaluated."

Well, thanks for being clear about it Georgetown...

At the open house, we were told end of March as well. He said they don't send them out early for EA.

Well, there goes that letter that I received about the Mid-March thing.

Well, it's the latter portion of March.
