No, I think what "stinks" is "Master's" attitude. Rejoicing and consoling may be regarded as "futile," in that such actions don't obviously change the admissions' decision. But what's the alternative -- live a life of quiet desperation? Obviously the whole college admissions game is about competition, as are most activities in life. But simply because the process may be "aloof" and "cold-hearted," and simply because it's so important to many of us on this (at-times-ridiculous) board, it feels good NOT to go it alone. Why not try to get something out of it? I may very well be one of the many rejected from MIT -- heck, MIT only accepts 15% of EA applicants, so I guess part of me expects disappointment -- but I'm hoping it will help knowing that I'm not alone in feeling that disappointment. Similarly, in getting to know some of you on this board, I know I'm going to feel good for you if you do get in. You gotta take what you can from all this bs -- remember what Nietzsche said: "whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!" So, on that note I'll get back to my Physics homework.

Oh, to the rest of you out there (not Master, 'cos he's hella competitive), keep on signing up! And btw, Hriundeli is not numerically-challenged -- he/she anticipated others signing up before he/she pressed the "submit" button on the online app. 'Night folks.

I'm doing EA. Not expecting at all admit EA tho given the 15%, (which are most those IMO's, MOSP's, IchO's, USAMO's, RSI's, PYROMYS... the list goes on =) ) But yea, who knows =). I won't be disappointed when i get that deferral.

You know what's nice? Logging onto MyMIT and seeing this checklist with a checkmark by every requirement. :) (Except the midyear school report, of course).

Can you imagine? I did press the "Submit" button about 10 minutes before mynameisntneo's post :)
So, technically, I CAN be counted as #13, he-he
Sorry - I'm just too happy to be finally freed of that torture

Yeah, tell me about it. However, take a look at the list on the Stanford thread -- that's quite a bit longer (also note the difference in exchanges) -- so I guess it could be worse. Still, regardless of comparisons, the list does increase my anxiety level. The next 45 days is going to drag.
