My daughter applied EA and her portal was updated today — admitted with the $30k/year Dean’s Scholarship.
Does anyone have an idea of when full financial aid package info would come out? We filed everything in time for early deadline…

I think it takes a few days b/c it comes by snail mail
@ChaosParent23 she got the admissions letter in mail today along with a brochure etc, but no detailed financial aid info. I may just email to ask.
Let us know what you find out b/c I was under the impression that first letter contained everything. I’d be very interested in what they say.
Congratulations on her admittance! From our experience the COW does not separate scholarship and financial aid so the $30k/year may be her total offer. Ours came as one number… the amount of aid was factored into the scholarship. The admission office staff are very responsive. Send an e-mail for clarification.
@Snowman66 thanks. Good point. I didn’t realize or had forgotten that College of Wooster doesn’t meet 100% of need. And while they’re on some lists of schools that meet most need (specifically more than 90% of need), the College Data site shows they actually only meet 100% of need for about 55% of students … if the merit aid is it, this won’t be happening. The “gap” between EFC and aid — with two in colllege — is probably north of 15k.
I’m going to email to see if this is it. Thanks!
FYI, I have no idea if she will get more aid, but this was the reply I got from Wooster financial aid office:
“We are working through those and they should be out by the end of next week.”
Thanks for the info. Hopefully you hear good news next week.
My daughter was EA and just got admitted with a merit award totaling $120k for all four years! She had a 3.7 unweighted with a 29 ACT.
Yes I understand. We have a “ gap” as well and another kid who will be a 2020 grad. We’re still looking for additional scholarships and she will have a job on campus that will help.
Congratulations!
My daughter was accepted last week–not sure of the date it was released. She just decided to check her portal and saw that she had been accepted–she was so excited!
She applied EA submitting everything I think around 10/28. She got a $30K Deans Scholarship, but I am under the impression that there would be some FA as well. I had completed the Early Aid Estimate that you actually send to the school (not the Net Price Calculator) and when I got the results I called the FA office to check on how accurate the report was for planning purposes and they told me that as far as the FA portion of financial package went it was pretty much what we could expect if we had filled out the estimator accurately. She couldn’t speak to the merit portion for certain. As it turned out, the merit portion that came with her acceptance was 100% what the estimator had predicted. So I was under the impression that merit was separate from FA and that part would be sent later. I guess I’ll call FA next week to check on that.
If all goes according to the estimate, the total financial package will not meet 100% of need, but it would bring the COA down to a range that we can consider. She will also be auditioning for the Arts Scholarship (theater), which would help as well.
Well the trend from last year continues - my son got an email at 3:30 today to say that the admissions office is closing on December 21st and that they will be back shortly after the new year. Hopefully this means an admissions decision will finally come this week along with information regarding the College Scholar award.
We got the same email. I think it’s very safe bet you should hear back by the end of the week. My DS will probably be calling the AO when he gets home from school on Monday. We’re all super excited for DS, but his dad is a bit in mourning I think… he’s been wearing his COW swag all weekend.
Good Luck to all still waiting to hear!!!
Hi all, new here. I’m a bit confused by the last two comments. “the trend continues from last year” and “being in mourning”??? Is this to imply that those who have not yet heard back are unlikely to be offered admission?
@carondelet My son applied EA and he has not received any notification yet and @ChaosParent23 and I were wondering if it had to do with him applying for the College Scholar award. Looking at last years posts the students who received the college scholar award heard back from admissions this week. My son visited and showed much interest, as did Wooster show interest in him. He was given a select portal to apply and then decided to also submit the application and another essay for the college scholar award.
@ChaosParent23 is mourning the loss of Wooster since her son was accepted to his ED school.
S had everything in by the last week of October and has also heard nothing. He did the audition weekend for an additional theater scholarship in November so I am hoping that’s the hold up. I can tell you that checking the portal once an hour does not magically make a decision appear in case anyone is wondering.
@kona2012 Furman, Wooster, Case - how many schools did your son apply to EA?
@chessasmom he applied to six schools and all were EA. Why? And he’s done applying because he’s already found out he’s accepted at Binghamton and that would beat out any of the RD schools on his list.
That is awesome! Congrats to him!!
