I have no idea what that is; I wish I had learned about it a year ago so that I would have had the oppurtunity to.

I hated math until calc.

Wow. What have I created. Only on a MIT Message Board.

I didn't know I was the only one applying to MIT who hates math. I love the sciences (especially the mathy ones), but for some reason pure math doesn't do it for me.

You're definitely not the only one applying to MIT that hates math. :)

I'm all about the really difficult, technical computer science stuff but really hate pure math. I don't know why.

Math. Is. Sexy. Dammit.

Math is awesome.

It's my favorite class.

The universal language, the one thing that's the same wherever you can go. It can be used to describe so much...god, how can you HATE math?

Smart is sexy. Nerd is sexy. Science is sexy. Math is sexy.

I love a boy that can qoute quantum theory to me.

The only thing I abhor is economics. Can't stand it. Don't see any point to it in my personal microcosm. I can do it just fine, but I'd hate to have to take any courses more advanced than AP. Blegh. I'll leave it to the people who love it.

Also, there's a great discrepancy between my English scores and my math scores on the standardized tests (as in, English is higher). And since scores are obviously everything...

I can't think of one area of interest that I wouldn't love if I pursued it (except for the aforementioned). Legitimate ones--I can think of plenty more that I wouldn't like, so no nitpicking (no: lol u woud like 2 work @ mcdonald's then????). Heh. But I could just as easily study English or Philosophy or Theatre or Dance or opera or Chemistry or Pure Math or even something like geology, zoology, biology. So I think I'll end up with a few degreees scattered across fields. I want to get a phd in Physics, though, because that's where my main interest lies. But my life will consist of cross-study and synthesis and harmony between right brain and left brain, science and humanities. Or so I'm hoping...

Mmmm, nerdy boys.

It's all about the monetary policy! Friedman test tomorrow on the Fed...

No..u guys are getting confused.. my name is Mythri and i am an american citizen but live in India rite now.. so technically, i am not an international student, but just have an international residence.. so how long will it take before i get my letter if i live in India.?? ..i have also applied for EA

sorry.. that was kind of a late post... i was replying to the first page of this thread..

Last year they sent acceptance letters via DHL to international addresses. I wonder if they will do the same for EA this round.

so how long would that take??

Internatioal students can't apply EA.

i am not an international student... i have a US passport!!

yep.. if you're a US citizen living abroad, you can still apply EA.

Don't know how long it will take, but as I recall, last year they allowed applicants living outside the 50 States to view their decisions online. I don't see such a facility this year, but you might call the admissions office and ask :)

Thanx a lot... it'll be really sad for me reading whether u guys got in or not and i'll still be panicking about where my application is!! on top of that its not even coming home!! i live in a residential school and i think it will b addressed to the school.. so i'll get the letter even later!!! (Rite now im at home!!) :-(

LOL, only on an MIT message board indeed. i <3 math though, so i'm not one to talk =)
