I really thought it would show up Monday or yesterday at the latest. I knew that Bentley sends letters out on Fridays in past years. My son's letter showed up on the Monday last year after they were sent on Friday. Clearly there is some sort of bias in the post office towards people in NJ. :-)

My DD and I will be waiting by the mailbox at 2:15 today when the postman drives up.

Sure, b/c we are the Garden State! I have run into our mailman several times this month....

I will give you some nice advanced warning b/c I am from NJ :)- If you receive a merit award, the letter may indicate that you need to send in a deposit by January 23rd. Obviously, this is an error, and a letter correcting this should follow. We received the follow -up letter today which explains the error, and that a deposit is due on May 1st. Boy, our state has efficient postal delivery!! I am sure there will be some big envelopes in Ct. today!!!

Well, the mailman arrived 15 minutes early today...probably because he wanted to get the large Bentley envelope out of his truck.

Officially the letter is not here yet. As is the custom in our house, I have hidden the letter away until dinner tonight when my wife gets home from work and the three of us can celebrate together....as is also custom the top choices get celebrated with champangne.

BL1, We have developed the same routine (without the champagne, but this is a very nice touch). My S has not been allowed to know about decisions arriving until we were all together. It drove him a little bit crazy, but the poor boy dealt with it. Parents deserve a little bit of pleasure watching their child's happiness. I loved the look on my son's face when he saw the big envelope, and then when he read about his scholarship!!!

My daughter is probably going to abuse me about hiding the envelope. She has been trying to beat me to the mailbox the last few days. She also knows where I have hidden the previous acceptances...and checks those places.

I was especially sneaky today. The mailman came early today. I left all of the other mail in the mailbox and just removed the Bentley letter. She went to the mailbox as soon as she got home. My comment was, "I know it is in the mail...it has got to come tomorrow." :-)

Well, the big white envelope came in today! S is in. Shall we all be meeting each other in person on Student Accepted Day? We will have to wear name tags. We plan to go up. We haven't seen the school yet because of weather delaying our visit there.

I got my decision today, well kind of, I actually received the letter that was to correct the date about enrollment fees..i did get and was a presidential scholar....congrats to everyone else who has heard good news too!

We had a nice time. The champagne was not opened due to a test the next day...but there were flowers (in the school colors) and balloons too....

After the laughter died down...then I got yelled at (in a good way) for hiding the envelope for 5 hours.

A good memory was made.

Bentley is number 2 on my DD's list and there is a big gap to number 3,4,5,6 and she was deferred EA from number 1....so this was an important acceptance. Now we need to wait until the end of March to see if number 1 comes through.

I got into Bentley EA also, I got my big envelope and a nice scholarship offer.. Bentley is really my first choice school, but Bryant, which I'd considered my safety, made a scholarship offer that nearly doubled Bentleys.. I was wondering if anyone knew if merit scholarships could be negotiated.. I anticipate hearing a lot of "merit based scholarships are based on the overall strength of the applicant pool" when we call them to find out from the school, but I'm wondering what other peoples opinions are on the issue. I'd really like to go to Bentley.. but I dont want the finances to overwhelm my parents. Any thoughts?

You have to balance the finances against the education you will receive in exchange for the money--and in determining whether you will be at a college that will keep you motivated enough to stay focused through until graduation day.

My son still hasn't heard from Bentley--but because he's so interested in possibly going there, we've already planned a visit there to tour the college in early April. I hope our trip isn't for nothing.

Does anyone know how Bentley is likely to rank next year when it joins the "National University" list of US News & World Report. I estimated they should be around #47 on the undergraduate business list--but on the regular list, it's a lot harder to estimate where they will rank--probably around #60-62 is my best estimate (equal to Boston University and University of Pittsburgh).

I would be surprised if Bentley moved to the National University list anytime soon. Where did you hear about this?

For example, Villanova is number 1 on the Masters List (North)...while Bentley is number 8. Villanova has been granting Phd's far longer (and I would expect in greater numbers) than Bentley (which is just starting)....and they are still considered a Master's University for ranking purposes.

I have always had a bit of a problem with the overall ranking lists. Each school is such a complex and diverse place with a complex list of strenghts and weaknessess. I think the departmental rankings are much more important. Bentley has been doing a slow and steady rise on the business rankings and I would expect that to continue.

Our DS is in his freshman year there and is really enjoying it (and doing well). The new library opens next week and looks great in pictures. The new fitness center should open soon.

We too will be making a trip up to the admitted students day. Our DD is trying to decide if she wants to go to the same school as her brother....

Yes, S went early decision to Bentley...so last spring was very quiet and low stress....just a little buyers remorse to deal with now and then.

This year DD was deferred EA from two of her top choices. She has since been accepted at one and waiting to hear from the other. Being accepted EA at Bentley helped...but it is still way more stress than last year. The #1 school seems to rotate among her top 3 every day. And we will be spending the next three weekends revisiting her top 3 to see if we can find a clear winner (please....please....please). But yes, good problems to have.
