EA Decisions Yet?

I know that this is not a very active messageboard, but if there are any others out there who applied EA - have you heard yet? Tried to navigate around the website to find out, but nothing seems to be there. D has heard from several other schools, but is anxious to hear because she really liked Hofstra and their programs. I thought their date was 12/15, but nothing has come in today's mail. We are in MA.

My son applied EA, too, and has not heard either. He checked with a schoolmate today who, also, hadn't heard. The HS mentioned in another context that Hofstra is not good with paperwork. The date on the website is 12/15, but with the mail things are bound to be slow. We are in CT.

My D, also in MA, has not heard yet either. My guess is they probably went in the mail today, we will probably hear Wednesday? We did not get any kind of pin in the mail either to check the website, so I guess there is no way to do that either.

I just checked to see when my son heard last year. His acceptance envelope was postmarked 12/12. He received the nicest letter from the president of the university too.

None yet here in NJ either! My daughter is anxiously awaiting as is her friend.

To Northeast Mom - Just showed your post to my daughter - her question - was it a big envelope or a regular envelope?!

It was a big yellow envelope with "Congratulations" written on the outside of it!

Northeastmom - we like those kind of envelopes - no added stress - LOL! UMass-Amherst's said the same thing on the outside (of course, they also had a website where we found out before she got the envelope). Emerson's was big and white, but no clue until you opened it - but, she got in there, too, which was very exciting. We are keeping our fingers crossed for Hofstra - very impressed by what we saw our two visits there. Good luck, everyone!

allie'smom, This way if you get to the mail first, you don't have to try to hold the envelope upto a light bulb to find out the news! One school kept sending literature to my son in large envelopes and we kept thinking it was an admissions packet. We were disappointed several times before the real letter of admission showed up in our mailbox. It was in a small envelope so I thought that he might have been rejected, but it was an acceptance. I remember at least 3 schools sending acceptances in small envelopes with no hints on the outside--yikes!

BTW, I was very impressed by Hofstra. My S was accepted into the honor's program, but as a freshman they really did not offer honors classes in his area of interest. He also felt that the school was too close to home when decision time came. I thought that he would pick a school that was closer to home, but he decided to go 6 hours away.

Still nothing from Hofstra here in CT. Did anyone else get anything? It's not even my S's top choice, but it is hard to be kept waiting.

Well, the big yellow envelope came in today's mail. She got home first and called me (I was taking a mental health day and doing Christmas shopping) with the good news. Also got accepted at Suffolk in Boston. So, she did pretty well: 5 acceptances and 2 deferrals. Now - on to the FAFSA and CSS forms!! Good luck to everyone else!

allie'smom, Congratulations to you and your D! Suffolk seems to be a nice school too, but as I understand it, dorms are an issue at Suffolk. 5 acceptances must feel great! The financial forms are just so much fun

In metrowest Boston a friend got his acceptance to Hofstra, but on the south shore of MA we did not. ANyone on south shore get thiers?

Still waiting in NJ.

northeastmom: We did like Suffolk, and they do only guarantee housing for 2 years, which is the downside of it. They do have a very good off-campus housing office from what I hear. If D ends up there, would highly suggest that she try for an RA position in the junior year. The newer dorm that overlooks the Statehouse has a stunning view from the top - they took us up to about the 20th floor - you can see all the way up the Charles River to Cambridge - beautiful.
sunshadow: we are in southeastern MA and it came today.

I had an admissions representative do onsite admissions at my school, so, I got in about a month ago. I received my official acceptance packet in the mail on Tuesday. However, I am located in New York so I am guessing I would receive it a bit earlier than everyone else?
