EA? Honors?

Hey.

3.85 unweighted
30 ACT (may go up to 31 or 32)
10 APs by graduation (1 soph, 4 jr, 5 sr)

In-State

officer position in a club (most likely prez/vp senior year), 2 natl honor societies (actually involved), tutoring once a week, volunteering (60+ hrs), full scholarship for an exchange program in a foreign country for the summer (2011), class council, 8hr/week job (senior year only)
7 years of french by graduation, up to French VI (past AP)

Whaddya think?

you will probably get auto admit for honors if you do ea

I think you are good for EA. I would not say auto admit with a 30. My D has similar stats and did not get auto admit. If score goes up a point or 2 then you should be auto admit.

Thanks for the input to both of you! I’m taking the ACT again, so hopefully in September it’ll go up.

Do ECs matter for honors? The website wasn’t too informative…

ec’s do not matter for auto admit. it is based solely on gpa scores and rigor. my son had taken 4 ap classes by senior year- most his school offered, had a 4.0 and 1550 sat score and got auto admit. a friend of his got auto admit with a 4.o, 3 ap classes, and 1480 sat score. i definitely think you should work on your scores. my son had a 1430 going into senior year and studied hard with practice tests for the october sat to raise his sat score- all because he did not think he was high enough for the auto admit- and it worked for him. score went up 120 points and he got honors. so study hard and good luck!

My daughter got EA and auto admit honors with a 4.0 and an ACT of 32. She took the SAT without any prep and only made a 1920. We knew that her SAT wouldn’t make honors so I was glad when she got the ACT score back. My advice to everyone is to try both tests and if you are still not happy then study for the test that you did the best on. Good luck and work hard it will all be worth it in the end.
