EA interview: not now, never? no clear admit, no clear defer? good stats

So I haven't been contacted for interview, and it's the second. Probably means no EA interview, ever?

Does this also indicate to some degree that I am not "on the fence" and instead am a clear admit/defer/reject?

umm where do you live? are you like in Alaska or something? that may be the case....

rhode island? don't think it's that obscure...

i honestly don't know then. i was under the impression that Harvard gave everyone interviews especially to EA applicants. i don't want to dampen your hopes but i remember reading somewhere that basically all EA accepted applicants had an interview

You should contact the admissions office on Monday. Sometimes, alums are so busy that they are not able to interview all applicants. See what they say!

i've already sent an email query two days ago. harvard replied with the same, standard, impersonal reply that "alumni may not be available to interview everyone"

would a call receive a less mechanical reply?

Then your application will not be put at a disadvantage without the interview. That is all.

no. you are not at a disadvantage without the interview. there are tons of applicants that are admitted without it. RI may have a paucity of alumni interviewers, and Harvard will not hold that against you.

still, i'm slightly perplexed to why the new england area would lack harvard alumni... doesn't make much sense at all

believe me, all domestic Harvard applicants are forwarded to the local Harvard Clubs. there is no applicant scanning. It could be a miscommunication between Harvard and the Club or the Club and your interviewer, but no one looked at your application and said that you didn't deserve an interview. Everyone gets an interview, if possible, and it does not matter if you dont.

Harvard tries to give every applicant interviews. If you haven't been contacted, it means there are no local alumni in your region. As stated above, you aren't disadvantaged
