Yeah they also hate when you join clubs senior year, it looks like application padding. They really hate those people.

Yeah, that makes sense. But still that really stinks :/

Yeah my grandfather said that too, lifeonthecape. Apparently they also don’t like people who stick with a sport/club for all 4 years (I know, the opposite of most colleges), and that they actually like people trying many clubs, even if they only stay in them for a few weeks. Apparently a computer just tallies up all the clubs/sports you participated in and adds it to an overall “point” score. In this case, Quantity>Quality.

That’s not true!

I’m just saying what my grandfather said. He doesn’t work for them anymore, but he used to recently (1999-2010). It may have changed in the past few years, but it likely hasn’t.

Just got the acceptance packet, in-stater over here. Received Commonwealth Honors invitation and Dean’s scholarship ($2000), not bad for in-state!

Stats: 13 honors, 4 AP 3.83 GPA 34 ACT good EC’s

kiwi- you are wrong. Just dead wrong. UMASS does not defer people if they suspect they are treating it as a safety school. The moral hazard in that policy – for a state public school – is unimaginably high! UMASS is really known at my school for being extremely true to GPA/SAT chart: if you are above the line, you are in, if you are below you probably aren’t. The spelling mistake on an essay isn’t true either (I chatted with an admissions rep and he said if you are good on your objective stats, they really are just looking for coherent sentences and thoughts on the essay.)

My application was complete on the first day of November due to certain items not sending in properly. I applied for Early Action for the Nursing Program. On my status checker it only says “Completed as Early Action” instead of “Under review.” Is this because they have not looked at my application yet at all or is it because the status checker is said to be slow?

Very happy to say that I got accepted! 4.1wgpa, in state, 1080 math/CR for sats, biology major :)

@kw2396 did you get any scholarship?

Are people OOS getting scholarships? Or is it just the in-state applicants?

I got a scholarship OOS.

For the people who have been accepted, when did you turn in your application? I turned mine in on October 14, still haven’t heard anything. . .

D didn’t receive a scholarship from U Mass Amherst. We are in state.

Submitted EarlyA and hasn’t received anything :/

Just wondering where do you check the decision via UMASS site?
thank you
good luck to you all

<a href=“SPIRE Logon”>SPIRE Logon;

Should be on the screen once you log in. If it still gives the same “We are pleased that you are considering UMass… etc” message then the decision hasn’t been released yet.

Is the financial aid package, if any, found on the Spire site ?
Thanks

My daughter is OOS (California) and got a $12k/yr scholarship and CHC. That’s the most they give to OOS. (Basically wipes out the OOS surcharge.) I don’t know if scholarship info/CHC is on Spire or only in the mailed packet. She got her mailed packet Monday.

I do not think another batch of letters has been sent out since the first batch last Friday. Thus, no more acceptances so far.

Kiwi3699…what major did you apply to?

Kiwi3699 - Did you double check that they received the correct transcript/files from your school. Being deferred does with those credentials does NOT make sense.
