EA Notification

my high school is super competitive and i was surprised by the amount of deferrals. I think that elon’s admission appears very random because they not only look at your numbers(grades test scores) but they also look at the type of person you are. when i visited they said they wanted “smart students with a heart” (or something along the lines of that) which also goes along with their amazing amount of community service opportunities and new scholarship. So if there are any juniors on here i would advise putting a lot of thought into what you write your essay about!

I saw a number of surprising EA deferrals this year - including some who were accepted at Tulane and other schools perceived to be a tougher admit. My interpretation of this is that Elon is becoming increasingly popular - and therefore a tougher admit - particularly EA. Still reasonably high acceptance rate for ED - so if you are a junior and love Elon - consider applying ED.

But - and this is important - EA deferral at Elon is not the kiss of death as it is at many colleges. You do have a good shot and turning a deferral into an acceptance. Send mid-year grades - stay in touch with your regional rep and convey your interest - visit if you have not already done so - send another teacher rec from a senior year teacher - send an update on awards/honors to your regional rep, and so forth.
