This year was the most competetive ever for early admission to Georgetown with a total of 4573 (up from 4050 in 05) applications received and 918 offers of admission granted, for an overall admission rate of 20.1%. Median Rank and SAT scores for all schools were among the highest in history. Over 90% of all admitted students were in the top 5% of their class. The overall diversity of the applicant pool (29% minority) is also the highest ever. With an expected yield of well over 50% among early admits and a projected first-year class of 1,565 students, the regular decision and overall admission rate for the class of 2011 is expected to be by far the lowest in the history of the University.

seriously. when you put it that way, i can't feel too awful. so do you guys really think that only 10% of us will be accepted in april? because that is one frightening number...

They're legit stats. I talked to a teacher of mine, who also is a Georgetown chairman for our region or something of the sort, and he gave me the same numbers.

Wow! I thought it was always assumed that the College was less competitive than SFS. And while the % admitted doesn't mean it isn't, it still surprises me.

SFS is supposed to have a much more "self-selective" applicant pool. Meaning most people that apply there have very good stats. That's what the admissions person said anyway.

And just out of interest, the SFS class rank percentile and SAT mid-50th percentile ranges are still the highest of any of the four schools. It is more self-selective.

My counselor gave me the sheet they got today showing SAT ranges, class rank percents, and % admitted. The college accepted 18%, and all the others were slightly higher, but SFS still wins as far as class rank and scores.

this almost makes me feel better about getting deferred, then makes me feel worse when i think that i still have to go through regular decision against all these geniuses!

Yes, I would love to see the stats for NHS (the school I got in EA) - I admit I sometimes feel as if I don't deserve the praise and congratulations I receive after being accepted as NHS reportedly is much easier to get into.
