EA to UChicago vs. ED to Dartmouth + EA

I'm madly in love with UChicago and slightly less but still pretty much in love with Dartmouth. Should I play my Early card as a means by which to optimize my chances of being accepted somewhere or merely use it as a way to get a decision, and potentially senioritis, in December? In other words, does ED play such a significant role in the possibility of acceptance that, because I see myself as being able to be genuinely happy at Dartmouth, I should apply ED without thinking twice?

Either way, I'm still going to do a rolling state school safety, so there's that.

ED makes a big difference at Dartmouth. 28% of ED applicants were accepted v. 10% of RD applicants. Chicago is tight lipped about its breakdown, but is thought that ~12% of EA applicants are accepted vs. the overall admit rate of 8.4%.

However, only apply ED to Dartmouth if you love it and can financially afford it, because you will not have the opportunity to compare FA packages.
