<p>That's what I would have thought, too, but take a look at this.</p>
<p>Outside Scholarships
All scholarships from agencies other than Centre must be reported to the Student Financial Planning Office. (Aid adjustments may have to be made.) Scholarships of $1000 or less normally require no change to the Centre grant. Scholarships of $1000 or more may reduce the Centre grant</p>

<p>Grant is a word of FA art meaning that portion of need based aid that is not self-help, provided usually by the school from their funds. Not scholarship. Grant. As in "Your FA package consists of a Centre grant (free money you don't pay back) of $16,000 plus a loan of $2625 plus $1800 work/study for a total FA package of $20,425". They don't jack with merit scholarships. They are NOT grants.</p>
