Why does Choate have a star next to it? Is it cause it's so speshal? ;)

Gained admission or matriculated? (I see both in the heading so I wasn't sure.) If this is an admitted list, do you know where the students actually went? I'm also wondering if many boys end up going to Deerfield Academy because of the proximity and historical links...

I noticed Eaglebrook is a grades 6-9 school. Does everyone stay at the school until 9th and start secondary prep school in 10th? Or is the school supportive of kids leaving after 8th? (I'm just curious because my child's middle school goes up to 9th, too.)

My daughter looked at Eaglebrook but wasn't that interested.

It's a boys' school, fun is fun.

Gained admission and I do not know where the students finally went. It would be wrong to say that EBS is the back door to DA although they do manage to get a percentage of students accepted to DA.
After spending a couple of years at EBS many students would prefer to be in a new environment.

Majority if not all stay through 9th. The school wants kids for at least 2 years and once in a blue moon take a kid into 9th. Their intentions are to have the students through 9th and focus on prep for 10th.

Believe the only girls are very few day students and faculty daughters.

The * next to Choate just magically appeared!

Thanks, op. I was just curious. We're not considering junior bs because I can't bear the thought of living apart from my kid before he's 14. It's just interesting to see because I'm sure those kids make very well-informed choices when it comes to picking high schools.

fun is fun didn't know it was a boys' school because he uses WBTY Indices to rank schools and they don't have a sort by gender. The Bunkel Indices do.

Some say, going to Eaglebrook in order to get into DA is kind of like going to DA in order to get in to an Ivy (it kind of makes it harder) Especially if you are a day student.
The only girls are faculty daughters - and not all of them attend.
Most do stay for 9th grade - secondary school placement focuses on 10th or repeating 9th based on the student.

I'm sure your were disappointed that it isn't an alternative for your drama queen in a couple of years. LOL

is all boys?!? That explains a lot!
We thought maybe all the girls were on a retreat or sumpin.

Where do you find WBTY Indices and the Bunkel Indices ? thx.

You don't want the WBTY Indices. They are very biased towards the Ten Schools Admission Organization member schools. VERY biased. The Bunkel Indices are preferable, although they are costly by some measures. Still, they are less expensive than an educational consultant and have very exact measures that result in the best boarding school rankings available. I am sending you a PM with a code you can use to purchase the software through my on-line store at a 10% discount (with a modest commission to me if you use my store, with a link to the store in the PM). It's under $1,000 -- but you can spend that on an educational consultant in no time and many of them don't have information as comprehensive and as recently updated for EVERY boarding school that you get from Bunkel. If you download it, please let other people here know what you think!

Yan- he's teasing you. "Bunk" is an American word for "nonsense." Students should look for a school that is the best fit instead of the so called prestige factor. It is better to be happy at a school where you can excel than miserable at a "bigger name" school that is not a good fit.

So you say, sa. The info was sent and I see from my PayPal account that an order was placed shortly afterwards. I am sure that yan will provide a customer review later on. Thanks yan!

fun is fun, are you serious or joking?

My Paypal account is empty due to those dratted textbooks!

fun is fun...joking? Are YOU joking?

a little levity now and then is healthy. But I take my responsibilities here to educate, counsel, encourage and in general serve as a kind of very savvy guru, very seriously.

Perhaps, my greatest contribution is to help protect the unsuspecting from the predatory nature of certain (un-named) posters, who will unashamedly promote various untrustworthy sources.

There are a lot of novices here -- parents and kids. They need to know that the Bunkel Index (for instance) is unreliable in the extreme, a waste of a lot of money, and a potential for heartbreak, pure and simple. They need to know that the WBTY Indices (and WSJ to some extent) represents a time tested, scientific and overall really good AID in the search for the perfect school .

fun is fun stands on his record.
