Financial aid might be holding it up. The official notification date is April 1, according to the website, so you can still be fine. Did you get admitted anywhere else? And, if so, did it come with a financial aid package (which will tell you if Earlham has the information to process it).
@smilyowl sadly no I have not heard yet and now I am starting to get scared beyond measure.
The only decisions I have now is Case Western where I got waitlisted and baboon where admission was denied.
I don’t think that it is documents which are holding it up,because I sent a mail asking the same and they confirmed that they have it all
@FlaviusMaximus I don’t know about the other schools you’ve applied to. but Case Western is awesome !!! I hope you get off the waitlist.
@smilyowl thanks for the wishes
I got my decision today! I am an international student and I got a decent aid package of $20,000 in presidential scholarship, $20,000 of need based aid and $2,300 work. Although it doesn’t meet my full need, I am still considering it.
I was accepted too! I received my letter a week ago and I got the Presidential or the Dean’s scholarahip of $16,000 a $20,000 merit scholarship and $2,300 for a job on campus. Doesn’t meet my full need , because of some tragic events that happened in my family, but I really hope they’ll reconsider. Earlham is my first choice, fingers crossed for the FA package, because I’m truly hoping to attend!
@versionone, i am in the same position! i am still thinking !!!
Still trying to negotiate with Earlham for a bit more aid. I got better offers from two other universities and my parents are really pushing me towards either of those two. I’m so nervous and exhausted.
@evelynne1996 Which two universities?
@versionone Temple University and Miami University Ohio.
Any luck with the efforts to improve the financial aid package? Just curious. We too have a couple of other offers that are more generous but Earlham sure seems like a special place.
Earlham update - visiting now for admitted student event. GREAT visit. It’s a wonderful college, great people…all going great. Even the weather cooperated today!
@Joan2021 Earlham did adjust their financial aid package to get closer to my D’s cost of attending another midwest LAC to which she was admitted. There was a $4000 difference (not necessarily in total aid since the other college has lower tuition than Earlham) between our costs between the 2 schools, and I had to send them a copy of the other school’s offer. Earlham then gave us $3000 more than in the initial offer. So it doesn’t hurt to try. This also points the drawback of ED when a student lacks a comparison offer.
Oh it is good to hear that Earlham adjusted its aid package. We have requested an adjustment and will see what happens.
I just got an email from Earlham yesterday. They increased my aid package - now a full tuition equivalent + work study! Woohoo!
@evelynne1996. That is awesome!
thank you @tigerfish!
Any thoughts about Earlham’s small size? Might it be too small over four years?
Earlham IS small. I feel reassured that its enrollment is stable. But we also are considering size. Allegheny is twice as large but probably a very different social environment. This is a TOUGH choice but I’m confident all the options are great ones.
I am a transfer student who was recently accepted to Earlham with a generous financial aid package Do any of you know about what Richmond is like?
