Early Action at U of C--Is It Restricted?

I know that the EA at U of C is non binding. If you are applying at U of C under the EA program, can you still apply to another school ED?

My son ranks U of C and another school as equal top choices and would be ecstatic at either one.

I couldn't find the answer on the U of C website, so any help would be appreciated.

EA is never binding. Last year, at least, it wasn’t restrictive at U of C.

I realize that EA is not binding. I am just trying to find out if Chicago restricts you from applying ED somewhere if you are also applying EA to Chicago.

I have checked the site of the other school and they allow ED applicants to also apply EA elsewhere.

No. To date Chicago has not restricted EA applicants from applying ED elsewhere. They have been making noises of late indicating that they may be reconsidering that policy, but they haven’t changed it for the current season. I think their current policy is that they allow it and sort of wish you wouldn’t.

An official response: you’re welcome to apply EA to UChicago and ED elsewhere; we do ask that you withdraw your application as soon as possible if you are accepted to your ED school.
