Early Action Class of 2019

Does that also mean we won’t find out about the other Scholars programs such as pre-law and dedman until later?

Acceptance packet came today to me in Houston. It does not say anything about a scholarship. Does that mean I didn’t get one? I ask because many of the other posts and tweets show that others got scholarship info in their packets. Any comments?

For the most part, the school includes any scholarship awards with their decision letters. This does not include Hunt, Pres Scholars or departmental awards.

@kmv131‌ Correct. Honors program information comes later, usually early spring.

I am referring to the Founders or Second Century. I don’t have the stats for Hunt or President programs. From what I have seen, many have received notification in the packet on if they are awarded the Founders or second Century.

Yes, Founders, Second Century and Cornerstone are included with decision letters.

Just called SMU admissions. No money for me so it looks like I’m going somewhere else. Oh well no worries.

@Miketris‌ sorry about that. would you mind sharing your stats

Nothing here in Pittsburgh. It took 3 days to get TCUs letter from when they sent it, so if it takes the same amount of time we’ll probably get it tomorrow.

Miketris, where else are you hoping to go?

When are BBA Scholar notifications generally sent out? I applied EA indicating business as my major and I am hoping to be selected for the program.

If I live in New York how long do you think it’s going to take to get a letter?

Hasn’t made it to Memphis yet either. Maybe tomorrow!

No word here in CT yet. I guess they are no posting it online?

West Coast news–we got the big red envelope today! Cornerstone Scholarship included! Her stats: ACT 30, GPA 3.75/4.50, rank just outside 10%, top notch ECs.

I was accepted today which was wonderful and I am very happy to see this great news. However without a scholarship, Who in their right mind would pay MRSP for this school. I do love the campus and see myself at the school and I am heartbroken to have to walk away. I plan on going to law school and refuse to taken on this kind of debt for a Bachelors degree when I have law school to pay for. I am going to call the local rep on Monday and ask him what the issue is with my file that would prevent me from getting something when the other two private schools in the area have given me some great scholarships. By the way my stats are as follows. 29 act. 3.95/4 unweighted 300 EC hours and tons of leadership. I thought I had a solid resume to get something scholarship lard hip support. While this a great honor they should have just saved the spot for someone else.

I am the parent of a current SMU freshman who is a Hunt Scholar and I thought I would add what I know about scholarships, etc.

If you were not offered BBA Scholar or BBA direct initially, but commit to SMU, there is a chance you will be offered it later in the Spring–as late as May/June for some of our friends. I will assume that other department specific scholarships work the same way.

If anyone has strong EC’s–needs to include something like Student Body Pres or VP, Eagle Scout, started your own non profit, 500+ hours of community service, or other significant leadership positions, apply for the Hunt even if you were not awarded any other scholarship upfront. SMU was the only school not to offer my son any money upfront, so we were very surprised when he was selected as Hunt. Also, once he was awarded the Hunt Scholarship, he was also awarded other department scholarships. Bottom line: don’t give up on SMU if you really want attend.

The Hunt Scholarship is offered to approximately 30 students with the expectation that 25 will accept. They do not create a “wait list”, so if fewer than 25 accept, that years Hunt class is smaller than previous years. Last year appropriately 66 students, out of over 1000 applicants, were invited to interview for the scholarship.

Best of luck to everyone!

Son received his admission packet today. Second Century scholarship, GPA 4.0 UW, ACT 34, lots of ECs.

Friend of ours in Memphis got their’s today!

Anyone received an envelope today?
