Early Action - Class of 2020

Just received a $19k/ year Presidential Scholarship!

DD received a Presidential Scholarship of 19.5k. Very nice.

Offered $15k from WPI. I prefer WPI to ā€˜otherā€™ more competitive school, S likes both just about equally. Offered $18k from other school. His stats easily put him in top 25% of candidates. Looking at their website, they seem to have a preference for Valedictorians with auto $20k regardless of stats.

Received a $22k presidential scholarship.

accepted EA! received the $17,000 presidential scholarship
SAT writing/math: 1330
EC: pres of NHS, founder of math honor society, section leader in band, etc.

Did the scholarship information come with the congratulations packet or was it a separate letter?

@degrom48 The merit scholarship award letter is in the packet.

I have to take my comment back. Drexelā€™s cost seems higher at first ($71K) but it has a semester of coop during which tuition isnā€™t charged. When you factor that in, even assuming the coop is unpaid (although Drexel claims the average coop earns $15K) the cost is about the same as WPI. So the larger merit offered by Drexel is a better deal.

We visited Drexel and WPI. I admit I didnā€™t like it there, so I have a negative bias - but they have a very high transfer out (from 1st to 2nd year) rate - Iā€™ve seen about 25%. WPIā€™s is only about 3%. Potentially more cost in the long run if Drexel didnā€™t work out.

Has anybody received notice of the Foisie Scholarship? I looked through this thread but Iā€™m not sure if I missed it. (Iā€™m an EA2 candidate so Iā€™m just looking to see whatā€™s out there)

WPI Admissions Twitter:

ā€œAdmission decisions for Early Action Round 2 candidates will be available at 5 p.m. EST on Friday, February 5 at http://admissions.wpi.edu/statusā€

Good luck everyone tomorrow!

A little over 30 minutes! Good luck!

well, I got deferred, anyone know if people get in second time around?

@Justgotdeferred I got in

S got $10.5 k merit. This thread is making me wonderā€¦
Should be glad to get in, but really expected more in merit.

I got deferred from Early Action 2

For those posters giving updates for Early Action Round 2 - can you please also provide your stats? That helps a lot. Thanks!

@BiologyMom98 I was accepted EA2 with a 34 ACT and 4.0UW/4.55W. All they received on my transcript was the 4.55. Let me know if you want further information.

Accepted EA2 with 33 super score ACT, 4.05 GPA (I believe they only saw 3.97) Weighted.

Good reccomendations, okay essays. I had an extra engineering portfolio I submitted along with my application.

Congrats everyone on your acceptances and merit awards! Also, the merit awards are not the final FA package. You may also receive a need based scholarship.
