Okay so I applied to a school via the Common Application. The early action deadline for the University was yesterday the 15th of November. I payed the application fee yesterday and thought I was done. I learned today that apparently I had to sign my name at the end to be able to submit the application. So I did that today, the 16th of November and completed the submission. I had early action on my common app for this school, and I am wondering if I still made the deadline? It let me submit the application so I guess it's okay. I am really worried and feel terrible that I thought I was done when I really wasn't. Does anybody know if I made the deadline?

My sister once applied 30 minutes past the midnight deadline and was still accepted to the school (albeit, it was a safety for her). Its my understanding that once you sign and click submit is when the application is actually sent to the school. So they will probably see that you applied late, but they might still consider you for EA as that is what you selected on the Common App.

Thank you! Is there anything I can do to let the admission office know that it was a mistake? By the way the school I applied to was DePaul University.

Something similar (but worse) happened to me. I payed the fees thinking I had applied and took me 7 days past the deadline to realize. CA still allowed me to send some apps to the universities as EA while some I couldn’t. In any case, I contacted the undergrad office telling them about my mistake and they let me apply as EA with no retribution.
I don’t know anything about DePaul or how they would act with this incident (although I’m sure you would not be the first one) but I would contact them anyways just to see if your late application is fine.

If it shows “submitted” or if you got a confirmation of any kind you’re probably fine. However, if I were you I’d email/call the university ASAP and explain the situation. It will give you a peace of mind.

Thank you all so much! I will call the university and see what they can do :)

Actually, you should have your GC call - they often have the relationship to smooth these things through. See them first thing on Monday and they’ll probably help you.

That’s a good idea. l’ll talk to my counselor tomorrow and see what he says. Thanks MrMom62!
