I got deferred with a 1900 SAT and 3.92 gpa (unweighted; 4.21 weighted). I’m really upset, but I hear they accept most of the EA applicants who are deferred anyways. I’m thinking about taking the SAT’s once more to improve my chances since it’s kinda low.

Accepted into Honors College and received Dean’s Scholarship! So exciting.

4.6 GPA, 2210 SAT

@Random999 Not sure if this made a difference but i did not apply for financial aid (we don’t qualify) and i didn’t even know they had merit aids. In the letter, they noted the scholarship as part of the offer.

Son Accepted with a Dean’s scholarship of $22,000. I was really excited thinking he could stack that with the National Merit scholarship which is $30,000 but it looks like you can’t stack. So I guess $30,000 might be all he will get.

@justinn76 thankyou for lifting my spirit back up.

@barcaforever Kansas represent! Into the Honors Program with 18K Dean’s scholarship (+30 if I make NMF).
35 ACT, 3.96 GPA UW, interesting extracurriculars but low involvement, extenuating circumstances. I’m glad they’re holistic!

Can someone plz tell me it me getting no scholarship notification now means I won’t get any?! Is it because I applied to physical therapy I haven’t heard about it? I heard everyone gets something from northeastern, after all it is 58k per year…

Congratulations to all that were accepted. My daughter was denied, despite applying to a smaller , less competitive major as a legacy. Her SATs were weak, but her ECs. GPA and community service were stellar. I’m surprised she wasn’t at the very least deferred . A little disappointed that NEU didn’t see beyond the numbers and see what potential she has and what she could bring with her talents.

@nicolezz13,

@ZBD5421 You can’t stack? My understanding was that you could, but only up to the level of tuition, and if the scholarship total exceeded that, one would be reduced.

Accepted to D’Amore-McKim, 32 ACT, 4.3 GPA, tons of extracurriculars and over 200 hours of volunteering. New York.

Accepted NJ. - Honors Program & Deans Scholarship
2210 SAT
93/100 GPA

@glittervine this is from their Scholarships page. See last sentence

Merit-Based Scholarships

The top 25 percent of admitted freshman applicants may be considered for competitive merit scholarships, including the prestigious Dean’s Scholarship. These scholarship awards range from $5,000-$25,000 for the first year. In future years, amounts are awarded on a per semester basis, ranging from $5,000-$12,500 per full semester.

Northeastern National Scholarships

Students who are admitted to Northeastern and are recognized as national scholars (National Merit Finalist, National Achievement Finalist, or National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar**) will receive a $30,000 merit based award. Northeastern National Scholarships replace any Dean’s, Excellence, Connections, or International Scholars awards and may result in a change to previously awarded Northeastern University Grant funds.

What are the best ways for us who got deferred to improve our chances when RD comes around? (I already visited campus)

@glittervine No you cannot stack merit aid. Merit can be stacked with need based grants however.

@prayforuf
You heard incorrectly.

@TomSrOfBoston so basically if I’m not in the top 25% I get nothing? That seems kind of harsh do they just expect the rest to pay nearly full price? Sorry for so many questions I’m just curious if I got $0 or if I haven’t heard back about scholarships since I applied to a 6 year program

Kid accepted to engineering, ACT 32 (now 33, SS 34)), IBDC, AP scholar with distinction. Can’t see an honors offer (in engineering, maybe the standards are too high) 10K a year scholarship. $61K COA still leaves this as around 50K a year. Sounds like a great school though.
