Early Action decision next Friday

@azn33crush does this mean if our “Specified Major” on our application wasn’t changed, we got in?

Thanks, azn33crush! What are the chance to be admitted when the major change to DGS. Anything you have seen or heard from past UIUC experience. Appreciate!

@jmike15: err not to sure, but i’m pretty sure that they reconsider everyone for dgs. i could be wrong.
@lorddong: i don’t know exact percentages but you’re now being compared to a different and less competitive pool (dgs), in comparison to the previous major that you were applying for, if that makes sense.

emmm…having major stay the same could mean either closer to acceptance, or…?-interesting that I’ve been accepted into 6 schools but waiting on U of I and Madison has me nervous and worried…good luck everyone

mgguy2 i’m waiting for the same two schools too! U of I is weird as my major hasn’t changed on there, i applied for BioChem, but I’m hoping it’s for what you said initially, and yeah waiting for wisconsin is quite nerve racking!

There are actually four decisons you can receive when they are released later this week: admit to the major you applied for, admit to an alternative major which for most would be DGS, reject, or deferred to final decison in Feb.

Those who have seen their major change to DGS means you are being considered for DGS and thus have been rejected for chosen major; it does not necessarily mean you are admitted to DGS but large numbers rejected from other majors will be offered DGS.

Complete ready for review simply shows your file includes everything required for determining admission and is in the hands of those who will determine admission. Many of you will actually see that message disappear and go to more or less blank this week before decisions are issued.

Particularly for business college and then to some extent for engineering college, there will be a very large number, more than the majority of priority date applicants, whose decision this week will be either deferral or the offer to DGS. Just be aware now, since undoubtedly some of you might face the issue, that deferral is not death at UIUC and more than the majority of those deferred to Feb are eventually admitted; also a deferral in business or engineering this week means they are still considering you as a potential candidate for the college because otherwise you would be getting the DGS notice now. Those two colleges, with business more so than engineering, like to see the whole pool of applicants before making most decisions to admit.

that should be 6PM EST no?

Yeah 5pm Central is 6pm EST. I just got their email too.

im really surprised i havent been changed to dgs yet…this is frightening

Just got their email as well. Well I will not be home at this time, I suppose I will be the person at 5 oclock to be WAIT no one move, I NEED TO FIND A COMPUTER :)

My college still says Business. Is this good? So is it either that I am admitted or denied no DGS?

Mine still says business as well. I’m assuming it means I’m still being considered for business and will get either an accept, deny or postpone. I’m expecting to be postponed - I guess that’s better than it saying DGS, as there’s still hope for business.

good luck guys !

2 days  Let the countdown begin

So that means, if I am in still in my desired major, i can only derive that I am accepted or denied and not considered for dgs?

The problem is that you cannot assume that the computer will always show pre-mid December a switch to DGS even if you have been rejected by applicable major. In many cases it may not be entered because someone does not make the noted change in the computer even if you are being considered for DGS. Thus, the fact that you are still being shown for your preferred major is not a guarantee you won’t get DGS or won’t be rejected. You are trying to decipher tea leaves on a computer and as HAL said “Look Dave, I can see you’re really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.” You just need to wait until Friday.

But Friday is like months away :P

I’m so confused… I have a 32 act (36 M, 33 E, 32 S, 31 R, 33 superscored) and a 3.47 Weighted GPA… But my app hasn’t changed from Business to DGS… Does this mean I’m probably going to be straight up denied?

Or accepted, or deferred…

Try a little positive thinking.
