<p>Wow this is dangerous territory, especially b/c I can already see people looking up links and berating you and saying there are already plenty of threads on this, but w/e I'll just answer.</p>
<p>Mostly because you are demonstrating interest, a smaller applicant pool which has very common profiles such as the recruited athlete and the legacies. You really won't see perfect scorers very often in ED pools unless they have their heart set on a certain school b/c they know that they could get in through the RD process just as likely though EA pools are obviously much more heavy on the stats. Also, you won't get many poor [$] applicants because they won't be able to compare fin aid packages. Also ED guarantees 100% yield which helps with the numbers. Also ED is a bit easier because all slots are up for grabs, there's obviously more reasons but I'm much too tired to explain more details, sorry...</p>
