We've been getting this question a lot in the SCEA Applicants Thread, so I just thought I'd post it here to make it easier for everyone to see! :)

According to information in a likely letter this year (corroborated by a conversation with the admissions office), decisions are most probably coming out on Thursday, December 11th. It could potentially be the 12th if the process takes a little longer, but it's most likely going to be the 11th. Also, based on previous years, we're assuming it'll be at 3 PM ET. So all of you can now start planning how to escape work or school on Decisions Day! :D

Apparently, it has been confirmed by Harvard Admissions (via a CCer who called them) that the notification date is indeed December 11th, after 5 pm EST!

Admissions cannot be sending out notices after 5pm EST on the December 11th AND expecting applicants to update their email addresses by midnight on December 11th. That just doesn’t make sense.

Relax – I know it’s difficult, but Harvard will send out some sort of “official” notice soon.

@gibby: Actually, I called the Harvard Admissions Office main phone number about five minutes ago. He said that emails with admissions decisions will be coming out on December 11th at 5:00 PM EST. When I asked about the portal you linked to, he said it was outdated, and that Harvard no longer uses this portal (I think this means that the 11th was the deadline for email updates for a previous year). So decisions will definitely be coming out on the 11th

Okay, but Harvard WILL send out some sort of “official” notice soon – either by email or a posting on their website. The last thing Admissions wants in the middle of their full Committee meetings is for hundreds of students to be calling and asking about the notification date.

I have - was going to post a picture, but I can’t so here is the text: “and that a formal letter of admission will be sent on December 11.” Hope that clears up any questions- Good luck
