My D has heard from 4 of 5 EA schools - the last school UNC- Asheville says notification is the week of 12/17. I wish the news was available on-line.
Any body still waiting to hear from an EA school?

Her 6th school notification is expected in February

Yes, we are waiting on two of D's EA schools. One said they would notify a month after the Nov. 15 deadline (which has, ahem, come and gone); the other (her first-choice school) won't notify until the first week or two in January. They did call and write last week to say they were missing a recommendation form, which was mailed prior to the mid-Nov. deadline but was somehow lost, so we had to scramble this week to get that taken care of. These schools are both matches for D and we are fairly confident the news will be good... when it finally comes, that is! I am so glad we won't have to wait until April... I remember with S how long that seemed!

tom, did your D have good results on her 4 out of 5 EA schools?

Two years ago, one of DD's EA schools didn't send notification until mid-January. I thought that was a mighty LATE EA decision...but I suppose it is early compared with April.

I thought the point of EA/ED is that you would not have to apply to other schools if accepted. If their notification date is after all the app deadlines, what's the point?

momof2inca- yes 3 acceptances and 1 deferral. We felt the school was a match but we really do not know what the deferral means. I do like my D's attitude -she is offended- if denied she will not care- if they accept her she may refuse the offer. Who are they to defer me- I like high self esteem. The letter said they will advise her by the end of January. By the way the school was one of her 2 favorites. I can tell it has fallen a notch in her eyes.

Last year my daughter applied early action to UNC Asheville. She did not hear until after Christmas. By then she had already been accepted to her ED school, so she had to say thanks but no thanks.

nngmm, one of the reasons to do EA is to hopefully avoid having to apply to more schools; however, additional reasons for EA include chances for merit money (sometimes schools say to apply early before it's gone) and preferential housing.

University of Miami has very late notification for its EA applicants--S won't hear until around Feb 1st. He's already in at UVM and Case Western though, so he was able to skip applying to two schools that were safeties....

We're waiting to hear from two schools. One should have been mailed today and the other should arrive, "around New Years." Luckily my son has one acceptance because a rejection just before Christmas could put a damper on things. In the meantime, is anyone else annoyed by the cards and e-mails wishing you a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

I know what you mean, thumper. Based on the timeframes suggested by the school websites, we expected to hear from most of the EA apps by mid-December. We were therefore hoping to know the lay of the land by Christmas, but so far we have only heard from 2 schools.
