Early Action

As the EA deadline for UMich is approaching, I still have 3 essays to finish. A friend told me, however, that I can submit the main application at one point and then add the supplements and school forms at later dates. If I submit the common app this weekend, will I be able to continue working on the supplements for my other colleges? Also, will I be able to add extra teacher recs to the other schools? Will doing this cause problems sending my ACT and SAT scores?

THANK YOU in advance. Kind of panicking right now.

That is something you should definitely call the admissions office for instead of asking on a forum if it is this close to the EA deadline. Call ASAP

A few things about the Common App:

 1. once you submit the Common App for one school you can’t a make any changes to the Common App for other schools.
 2. To meet a college deadline (say EA 11/01) you have to submit the Common App, that college’s supplement and payment to that college.
 3. You can enter information for other colleges’ supplements after you have submitted your application for your EA school.
 4. I don’t know how the teacher recs work from college to college.

If the three essays you are referring to relate to other colleges’ supplements (other than Michigan), you will be able to complete them after you submit Michigan. If you haven’t completed the Common App essay or the essay(s) for the Michigan Supplement, you need to complete them before you submit the Michigan application.

None of this has any impact on sending your ACT or SAT scores. You do that through the ACT and College Board web sites.
