Common App Supplements

So it says on their website that the Common App locks down editing the app once you submit it. Does this mean you can't submit EA to a school and then work on your supplement for another school afterwards, leaving the common part of the common app alone?

I'm curious too

You can always work on supplements that have not be sent, but not the regular part of the common app, which includes the essay. It is a wrong headed policy change.

rly? i mean that's just one essay, the supplements have many more.

I am not sure what you are asking. You dont honestly think that once you submit one application that your supplements are locked? And you dont understand what I mean by 'the essay'? The essay means the essay on the main application. That essay is going to be exactly the same for all your common app recipients.

But what about the test scores? I plan to take some SAT II in November, but I can't write the results now for the EA submission. that means I won't be able to write them after i receive the scores for the regular decision?

That's what it means. Just put on the November date on the Common App, leaving off the scores. The colleges (EA and RD) will understand and will wait for the official report.

oh snap what? So if we win some award between Nov 1 and Jan 1, we won't be able to put it on the common app?

Yeah, you won't be able to put it on once you submit an app. Of course, you could always submit a resume to your RD schools listing that award.

Please someone tell me if I'm right!!

I think that you complete the Common App, and once you submit it to any school, it is locked. But you can submit it to all schools at once or to each school seperately. You can send at different times, just the common app cannot be changed. And you can work on supplements and send them seperatley from the common app.

This is good because I plan on submitting my common app and its school supplement to Dartmouth, my ED school, in mid October. But I will work on all the other supplements until mid December when if not accepted ED, I will send each RD school's app and its supplement seperately.

you are right
