the brother thing could help, but not as much as a parent or something.
and there is no way that 750 legacies were admitted ea and only 250 others. thats just an out of this world statistic. i also hope its not true jsut cause im not a legacy

yeah...I'm not a legacy, I really think that would create a blatanly unfair advantage. Does anyone know if 6000 people really applied early? That's kind of alot...i hope they were all to cas and not carroll =)

I've heard BC usually receives at least 6000 apps early. But remember, EA is MORE selective than RD, and 20% of those deferred EA still get in!

wow 20% of those deferred get in...thats pretty decent...but i hope i dont get deferred lol

Yeah I was looking at the BC website...they say early 33% get in, 33% get deferred and 33% get rejected and then 20% of the deferees get in. So the actual admit rate ends up being about 40%, so i guess it really does make the admit rate higher for EA...

this is from last year...
* Number of early action applications received: 6,450
* Number admitted under early action plan: 2,358
* Number enrolled under early action plan: 818

well about the legacy thing- a girl from my school got admitted like 2 weeks ago because her brother goes there and I think her dad may have gone there and she got an interview with someone very important (possibly the dean of admissions but I'm not sure) anyway what is unfair about this whole situation is that the girl didnt take any honors or ap classes throughout high school and was literally failing algebra 2 and chemistry last year; extra curriculars were nothing special she has no hook- I can honestly tell you that this girl is not qualified to go to BC I think its just really upsetting to see people who have worked hard and deserve to go there get deferred or rejected because BC will take pretty much anyone with legacy it seems... I don't know maybe they donated a lot of money or something but I don't think that is the case; anyway sorry for my little rant- good luck to everyone and stay positive even if you are deferred... theres still hope :)
