<p>Is there an advantage to applying early action to Hillsdale? Will it show that I am more interested/ambitious to attend the school?</p>
<p>From what I found out, it shows that you are strongly willing to go there should you be accepted (Early Action isnt binding financially 
). I am not quite sure how applying early shows ambition, though ;)</p>

<p>Thats right. You are showing a loophole available to those who lack finances. Officially, Early Decision is financially binding in most colleges including Hillsdale.</p>
<p>Also, I don’t think your common application link is relevant here since Hillsdale has its own application and doesn’t use CommonApp.</p>

<p>The reason for showing the loophole is so that the wealthy aren’t the only ones applying ED. Needy students for whom Hillsdale is their dream school should not be discouraged from applying ED.</p>

<p>If you are rejected, then you are done for that particular year. No chance. If you are waitlisted, its possible to get accepted at later date, but unlikely.</p>
<p>Hillsdale uses it’s own application, not the common app. Please check their website. We are applying for Early Decision because it’s the best school in our opinion. Also, they say you have a greater chance of receiving merit aid if you apply by the Jan 1 deadline. Good luck</p>

<p>I believe Hillsdale added the common app 2 years ago. It is free to apply online via the Hillsdale site. I also believe that they accept a higher percentage of ED students than EA or Reg Dec.</p>

<p>In another threat you said that your son was a transfer student from a community college. I have a question. Did you find that his courses were able to transfer over? I just visited Hillsdale over the weekend, and found out that I will have to take Great Books, Western and American Heritiage, and U.S. Constitution regardless of what classes I took at my current school. I am okay with this, but I am worried that my Physics and Bio classes will not transfer over, along with many others I have already taken.</p>
<p>Audrey, my daughter took Physics and Calc at the local comm col and both transfered. I can’t speak to the bio credit though; you’ll have to ask the registrar. Yes, you will still have to take Great Books, Am Her, and Constitution - and they are all difficult! As a general policy, Hillsdale will accept ComCol credits if they are actually college level courses (not developmental), and so long as they are not ‘vocational’ courses (cooking, pilot training, CAD drafting). They will try to find a slot for these courses among your electives. My daughter entered this year as a sophmore.</p>
