Early Admission at UIUC

How exactly does the early admission system work at UIUC? I'm looking to apply to Michigan as well, and probably SCEA at an Ivy or EA at Chicago. I should also clarify that I am a resident of the Chicago suburbs. My resume can be found in the "What Are My Chances?" thread, but my main concern is whether UIUC's early admission program is non-binding and will allow me to apply to other EA schools early.

oh my gosh, you seem like my doppelganger…ahahah
but yeah, UIUC is absolutly non-binding. I believe their “Priority” system (pretty much the equivalent of an EA) allows you to apply early and apply to other non-binding schools early as well. However, i’m not totally sure if the Ivy SCEA’s allow you to apply to UIUC priority…

UIUC’s priority application (early action) is non-binding. It does not prohibit you from applying early action or early decision elsewhere. As to the single choice early action schools – Stanford, Yale, Princeton and Harvard – all of those allow applicants to also apply early action to their home state public universities so you can both apply SCEA to one of those and priority application to UIUC.

The only advantage to applying priority for UIUC is that you get your admission decision early, during mid-December. That’s all.

^Almost that advantage. You can get one of three decisions in December, admit, decline, or defer to Feb decision date and many, particularly in business and engineering, get that deferral decision.

Right, sorry - I forgot to include that.
