I am a junior in high school and applied for Carnegie Mellon’s Early Admission. When I received a booklet with facts about Mellon, I read that “Early Admission applicants only get accepted on rare occasions”. If I knew about this before I had applied, I would have done Regular Admission, but now… it’s too late. But here are my questions regarding Early Admission in general. (Answers specific to Carnegie Mellon would be really helpful too).
If a junior can apply as a Regular Decision applicant and Early Admission applicant, what reason would he have to apply as an Early Admission Applicant if they accept only on “rare occasions”?
Do Early Admission Applicants get admissions’ decisions at the same time as Regular Admission applicants?
Well, I was asking about early admission in general, but anything specific to Carnegie Mellon would be better. Sorry, I should have made that more clear.
I believe that it’s the College of FIne Arts that rarely takes Early Admissions students. I don’t think the rest of the schools of CMU care. The Early Admissions program is there just to offer this option to high school juniors who have outgrown their high school courses and would consider this over another year of high school. What is unusual about the CMU program is that it waives the high school diploma. Most any school will consider students that graduate high school a year early along with their other applicants. CMU takes special note that a junior can apply and be considered without having to getting a high school degree.
