early admission to college?

Hey everyone I want to know the positives and negatives of applying to college as an early admission. In my situation it would be the college that is my first choice. NYU for example!

Can I please have info! When to apply? What are the results and so on...

Thank you!

PS. I am only a freshmen, but I want to have an idea.

When in doubt, do a Google search. It’s a lot faster than waiting for a reply on a CC thread.

Good luck!

Are you talking about early action/early decision, which are for high school seniors, or are you talking about early admissions programs, by which juniors are admitted and basically skip their senior year in high school? The links above are for senior applicants; junior applicants would have a different process and different concerns.

Well I want information on both basically. But I’m generally interested in the early admission.
But if you can describe all with the pros and cons that would be great help.

Thank you!

The most difficult thing is that every college has different dates. Do yourself a favor and take a half hour to make a chart of when all important dates for all the colleges you are considering.
Tougher majors basically require early application.
Early application is always a good idea unless it’s binding. Early decision is not a good idea unless it is your life’s goal or dream. Early decision is not for most people. Early application is for anyone who wants to get somewhere.
Early application is nice because in the end the year you will have enough stress from school. You don’t need to worry about getting into college. It’s nice to know you at least have one acceptance. If you don’t get the results your wanted from your early applications, you have time to adapt and apply to other schools.
Yeah, you have to the work of applying over winter break but you will be rewarded.
Hope that helped.

Thank you it does help, but in your previous message you said, "by which juniors are admitted and basically skip their senior year in high school? "

I have searched around and I haven’t seen that anywhere?

Keep in mind that NYU doesn’t give good financial aid, so unless your family can pay the full amount (which will likely be about $57k per year at that point), this isn’t a good idea.

What do your parents think about you starting college a year early? It can be a bit overwhelming for a 17 year old.

Early admission is different from early action or early decision. Early Admission is the term used to describe someone who graduates after their junior year in high school and is applying to colleges then. I hear that colleges are skeptical of the maturity of the younger applicant and appreciate letters of rec that reassure of the applicant’s readiness for college.

Maybe I misunderstood.

Is the OP asking if she can get admitted during her junior year of high school and skip senior year?

Or is she asking about NYU’s Early Decision admittance that is done during the fall of senior year?

^lol, I’m not sure either.
