1st place for an animation contest at school using Flash. Parody of Boondock Saints, a great movie.

Work: self employed

I build and repair comps. Was a webmaster for NHI for a little while.

Dude, Ragnarok, how are you taking 10 classes? That's crazy, man.

I'd say you have a chance. Your ECs are great, but your SATs are kind of on the weak side, for Princeton.

What is your GPA?

89 unweighted, 101 weighted.

I have a block schedule so i actually can take up to ten. 2 are only 1 semester so I have a total of 9 block classes.

My problem on the SAT is I ALWAYS TAKE IT SICK!!!!!!!!! On the SAT II I had stomach ache from the start which made me lose 10 minutes on the history (got a 630.....). Other SAT's I've had migrains or colds, AND my pencils always break/jam/run out of lead. Also, I have no time to prepare because of school/EC's/etc and I am bad at English (2/3rds of the SAT).

That's why you need to bring several pencils to a test

I do........ I bring 2 wooden and 1 mech.

Last test, I used the wooden on the essay. It was too light to see so I switched to mech and the lead jams. So I pretty much have to write every word twice to make it visible. 1 wooden breaks so I switch to the other and the lead falls out (cheap ass ticondergoa lead). So I quickly sharpen and it breaks in the process so I continue to sharpen and finally get a workable pencil.

you have a pencil issue? that is why your SAT's are low? OMG

And that's why you do the OCD thing, like I did, and bring 5 mechanical pencils...

OCD is starting to seem useful.....

any ideas if i get

680 reading and 650 writing on the new SAT exam in Jan?

+30 point increase in SATs will not make the difference in you getting admitted or not.

My SAT w/o the writing is good enough for them. The writing is what was killing me because of a bad day =/ when i took it.

I brought ten mechanical pencils and ten wood pencils to the PSAT. I labeled my calculator "The calculator more powerful than Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and the Incredible Hulk put together." I used mechanical pencils on the math, and wood on the others.

Normally, I'm wildly disorganized, but these tests make me wildly OCD. I scored high enough to be a lock for semifinalist though, so I guess I did something right.

Yeah, Ragnarok, you've got a chance, though I would probably say that it's not great. But being Hispanic is a URM hook. Do you have any other hooks?

Legacy.

Extreme courseload I have had only AP's/IB's since 10th for core classes with a total of 10 classes this year (2 AP 6 IB)

I teach martial arts

I taught my computer science class in 10th grade for the AP test, and 11th grade for the entire year.

National Hispanic Recognized Scholar (3300 in nation)

I play violin, draw, paint, and practice 4 martial arts.

Basically a jack of all trades

Oh yea, my New SAT score blew ( 1980...... ), but that was with the 570 writing.

Can I ask what you wrote your essays on?

legacy hispanic smart. you are in. bye.

One has to do with my passion for astronomy and how it began and I made it humorous.

Second is about how my uncle has influenced me tremendously, introduced me to new ideas, etc. I mention how he was salutatorian of the princeton class of 79 to show legacy, but it was very brief. My main example was the stock market because not many people get lectured on it daily in elementary school. Humorous in nature.

Favorite quote:

“Obstacles cannot crush me. Every obstacle yields stern resolve. He who is fixed on a star does not change his mind.” – Leonardo da Vinci

I chose this to explain my determination. My weakness is English, but that is mainly because I have never had a competent teacher until this year (I went from a 93 average last 3 years to a 70 first six weeks). I explain that I am not perfect, but I do not get discouraged just because I do not excel in a specific subject. I explain how I reacted, what I have accomplished, and will continue to do and why. I felt it would be important to explain my low English grades. I also chose to have my english teacher write my letter of rec to explain how, although I am not great in English, I have outdone every other student she has had in terms of growth speed and effort. (I raise my average by about 7 points per six weeks, which I feel is pretty damn good.)

(BTW, she is a REALLY hard teacher. For our final, 3/4ths of the students had to take it--that means below 80 average-- with this highest average at 90, a state ready writing champion. I got the highest grade on the final with an 84...... over half the class failed it because it is difficult to write 12 pages in 90 minutes. It is because our IB school is new and so far we have had 100% passing for the past six years and to keep that standard they make it overly difficult)
