Early Applicant Poll: Did You Get In?

in statistics class, we refer to this poll as a response/voluntary bias meaning that people who have been accepted are the ones who are more likely to answer "yes" to this thread. It is like posing a question of "have you ever been convicted of a crime?" in which most people who respond say no. Thus, I believe this lurking variable causes this thread to be incredibly unnrepresentative of CCers.

haha high five for ap stat fivers!!

So what are your stats? Do you have any idea if the number of ED apps is up, down or flat at Kenyon?

anybody hear yet????

I got accepted early decision !!! :)

Accepted to Wellesley!

I found out I got into Rice today!!!

I found out I got into Tufts ED I today!

Ah, AP Stat.

Kinda reminds me of that book about women having affairs... it was something like 80% of married women have affairs, but the guy handed out surveys, and only women who had affairs would bother to respond...

Although this is a blantant example of voluntary response-- I also think that it is a form of undercoverage. Students applying to schools that don't release decisions until latter can not repsond-- leaving out a portion of the population by default.

What really needs to be done is a SRS...

Okay, I'll shut up now.

Wellesley 2010!

^ Haha Spark, honestly, we need to randomly assign two digit numbers (01-00) for example and then flip a coin to see if odds......

But then there's always double-blind, so we can't know either......

Blah!

Congrats Chai!

I'll venture out into the unknown and respond with my decision, which was, unfortunately, rejection. So many people on here seemed to be accepted, congrats to them, although we "rejections" seem to be in the minority.

I don't see why people are so embarrassed as to say they didn't get in. Not everything goes your way; I applied to Dartmouth early, and it's not like I'm ashamed of getting rejected from a highly selective school. Nor will I let it affect my life (except for, of course, completing all those other apps). Anyway, I know another wave of early decision letters go out in a couple days, so I'd like to wish those people good luck.

I got in Case Western early action, I'm still waiting on Bard College and U Chicago (my top EA choice, second choice overall).

Haha I got into Baylor ... theres no early decision...

It took them 1 week to send me the letter.

Safety Safety school done! :) ! Now where is my UIUC letter :(

Lehigh University Class of 2010!!

Quag;
While I'm sorry to hear about your rejection, I admire your character in posting the news.
Admissions to Dartmouth is incredibly tough, as you now know. You need an outstanding "hook" to gain admittance to these most selective colleges.
You now have the entire universe of colleges to chose from, and you can probably get admitted to 95% of them.
Things happen for a reason, and you'll end up at a college that fits you the best, and you'll be happier in the long run. Remember, it's a long life ahead of you, and it's not where you received your diploma, it's what you do with your education.
My D is waiting to hear from a top LAC, and will shed a tear or 2 if not admitted. However, we already have a plan for submitting apps to those colleges that have Dec 15 deadlines, and are ready to roll on lots of others, including some we never had thought about before Nov. 15, that now look attractive.

Good luck!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted and for all who were rejected or deferred, keep your hopes high!

I was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton!

Accepted at the University of Pennsylvania, the College!

(Yes, I know...we're the rejects of Penn)

I got into Beloit EA today!
