Early deadlines for merit aid?

Hi all,

I've heard it thrown around that a lot of schools have earlier deadlines if you are to be eligable for merit aid. Is there any sort of comprehensive list of schools that do this? Are most schools the same cut-off date for that? I'd love any and all information about this policy.

Thanks

This is something you need to confirm with each individual school. Just check the websites.

But, as a general rule, if you’re looking at schools with guaranteed/automatic scholarships based on GPA and test scores alone, the sooner you get your application in, the better. If you wait too long and the school runs out of money . . . well, that’s the end of that!

As for schools that offer competitive merit scholarships, many have deadlines that are earlier than their standard application deadlines. I’ve seen several with a December 1 deadline, but I’m sure there are some that are earlier and others that are later.

I don’t think there is a list somewhere, but common deadlines are mid Nov and Dec 1st.

Just get your apps in early…both the school app and the scholarship app.

Also, as mentioned above, even those without deadlines might run out of money, so it’s best to get those apps in early as well.

You wouldn’t want to rely on a list anyhow, because things change. Check each college’s website. Many require application by their EA deadline if they offer EA, or have other specific deadlines.

Thanks for the replies! I am planning on getting apps in ASAP simply because of my workload senior year, so I will check my schools’ deadlines…
