Hi,
I was wondering what exactly the advantages were of applying ED2.
Does it give you an edge in admissions or anything?
I'm considering applying to Colby ED2, since I would love to go there and it would be nice to find out earlier, and I don't need to do any extra work since the deadline is the same as RD.
Thoughts?

ED2 is similar to ED1. The advantage of ED is the no. of applicants are less and so the probability of being accepted is more than that of regular decision. But if got accepted you can’t back out.

ED 2 gives you a little advantage in most cases. If you think Colby is a great fit for you then I would consider it. However, it is a binding agreement to attend. If financial aid is a concern then I would check out Colby’s financial calculator to see if it is affordable for you, first.

ED and ED2 are binding if you ACCEPT the school’s financial aid offer (if you ask for FA). If the FA offer is insufficient to support attendance, you decline the offer and apply RD (or ED2) elsewhere. This is explained in the Common App ED instructions.

One great thing about applying early decision two is that it shows the school that you are 100 percent interested in attending the college.
