Early Decision Acceptance Rates

Does anyone know what the Early Decision acceptance rate was? Or when they will announce it. At the moment I'm really curious. Prior to being accepted I was hoping they were as high as possible, but now that I'm in I'm hoping for record lows, it's weird.
Anyways, I searched it, but it doesn't seem like they've released any numbers regarding how many applicants they had/how many students they accepted. Anyone have any inside scoop?

I just think it's weird to not release this, since it seems like you can find the numbers for most other schools at Rice's level.

It’s not weird at all; it’s human nature :P

ED acceptance rates are usually around 25% while RD is significantly lower, and everything averages to a 17% acceptance rate. But since there are 15% more applicants this year, that means the acceptance rate might dip to around 14%.

This is all speculation, of course.

I think they will post the information after regular decision results are out.

@tracked, how do you know about the 15% more?

WHY IS THERE AN INCREASE IN APPLICATIONS FOR EVERY SCHOOL?

15%?! Oh my god. Ugh. Noooooo.

15% is my estimate, and I think it’s a reasonable figure given the yearly increase in applicants (looking at past data).

I believe they release admission statistics in the summer sometime.

15%? Wow. I am anxious to see these numbers.

I made these a year ago. You guys might find them useful.

I don’t think this year’s ED data has been released yet, but I know my overall acceptance rate prediction was pretty much exact (I think it was 15.7 instead of 15.6 and I was off by like 10 for the total number of applicants). So if anyone wants to extrapolate using this data, feel free. Just be sure to account for the proper trends: rather than following the trendline for acceptance rate, use the trendline for application size and calculate backwards using the projected yield.

Do you think the centennial had any affect on the number of applicants?

Love the new signoff, silentsailor, you should definitely keep that.
