Early decision admit rate?

My daughter just visited Haverford and absolutely loves it. Can anyone tell us what the acceptance rate is for ED as opposed to regular decision? Thanks -

My son is planning on applying ED there, so I am familiar with this. I am not at home right now where my notes are, but I'm pretty sure the ED rate was about 43% as compared to about 27% regular. Keep in mind that it is a small school (about 1300?) and that almost 40% play varsity sports. Many recruited athletes apply ED so that the coaches can support their applications, although that is certainly not a guarantee that they will get in...but it can help those on the bubble. So just figure that the extra 16% edge between ED and regular does not mean the same advantage exists for every applicant...it helps some more than others. And I imagine there are other students besides highly recruited athletes who get special consideration for ED. Of course, this applies at other schools as well, but I wonder if it applies even more so at Haverford, being a particularly small LAC with a particularly high % of its students being athletes. Just something to keep in mind.

My son also loved the school by the way. He was particularly impressed by the Honor Code. The weekend he was there for an overnight visit, he ate in the dining center with some Haverford students, and in the lounge on the way in he saw students leaving their backpacks, ipods, and other stuff just laying out in the open while they went into the cafeteria. Also, of course, the campus is beautiful as you said...the small classes, great sciences, and many other plusses.

Also -- you should look at the Bryn Mawr website, as you can take classes there and many students do. Some departments are even shared between the schools. For example, any Bryn Mawr students wanting Astronomy classes must take them at Haverford, and Bryn Mawr has a more extensive creative writing curriculum, so Haverford students who want extra writing courses would probably take some at Bryn Marw. So you may want to cross-check that school in terms of areas of interest for your D. It is also a beautiful campus (you may have been there already).

yes, Bryn mawr is really beautiful, my overnight visit host took me over there to see it. Kinda reminded me of an awesome English Boarding School (think a grey version of Hogwarts) I know as a Haverford student you can even major at Bryn Mawr and still get a Haverford degree.

Yeah, that's neat. My brother is a Russian major at Haverford, but all of his classes are at Bryn Mawr.

Supposedly 102 people were accepted ED.

how do you know, starfish?

Radionowhere - congrats on your admission! I'm happy for all who got in, but it was especially nice that your lonnnggg-term interest was rewarded. My son, unfortunately, did not get his letter yet today, in north-central NJ, so now has to agonize until Monday. Also, he now has to get going this weekend on some of his other applications just to make sure he is not behind in case of deferral or denial. I think Haverford should go to email notification to eliminate the difference in timing of receipt of notification, as well as save money on postage, paper, etc.
