I'm thinking about applying to Haverford Early Decision, but I was also wondering if applying early decision even makes a difference. Do they admit more people who apply early decision vs. regular?

Also, does anyone have any information on Haverford's English/History department, and if they find that it's easy to take interdisciplinary classes? Because I love both literature and American history, and I'm finding it hard to choose between them.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I think it does make a difference in that Haverford knows that if they accept you, you will attend. I do not believe that the standards are any lower for ED candidiates but there is a higher acceptance rate. While recruited athletes account for some of the higher acceptance rates, I still think it raises your chances if you are qualified and if HC is truly your first choice. My son (now graduated) applied ED but he was sure that HC was the place for him. Good luck!

I don’t have any information that would be helpful but I had to comment given your screen name. My son had an English teacher in grammar school whose favorite expression was “cool beans.” Since my S is now attending Haverford I can only say that it has actually exceeded his expectations so far. He loves being there. He loved that English teacher as well. Best wishes with your decision.
