Btw I made a mistake in my application my including table tennis as a club sport rather than a varsity as I thought it meant something else! I also forgot to add that I was a part of the student council for a year

@senior1098 I had a similar error. Send the admissions committee an email highlighting the activity number and description, paraphrase it and send them the edition. They’d probably acknowledge it promptly.
Thanks for the tip but I just realised that my principal did include both these things in my counsellor recommendation! I don’t think I need to reiterate it seeing as I already had to remove one of my activities by emailing them cause it was a research trip from our school that got cancelled and I didn’t want to look like I was lying-_- @aravindsk
I didn’t want my application to be compromised (cause I was applying early) by not including that activity as it is an integral part of what I wanted to do there! So I wrote the activity in the past tense and then it went and got cancelled and now I look like a total idiot-_-

@Senior1098 I wish you the best! I hope you essay shines through and your recommendations
Good luck to you too! any idea how many people are applying ED this year? @socksandsandals
No idea!! Usually about 900 apply each year under ED and around 700 get accepted @Senior1098
Hey I’m a current Freshman at American. I applied ED 1 last year, if you guys have any questions feel free to ask!
Hey @samschoe I applied ED 1 to American and I’ve been having nervous breakdowns these past few days because the notification date is right around the corner. I want to know more about AU. How’s freshman year so far? Also, how were your stats when you applied? GPA (Weighted and Unweighted)? Test Scores (if submitted)? Essay? Also, from your experience, what do you think AU is looking for in a student?
@samschoe How’s the merit aid like? Did you get in with any?
Freshman year is great! I have Finals in two weeks. My stats were alright, I didn’t submit my SAT score and my GPA was a 3.15. I did however have very strong extracurriculars and my essay talked about coming to terms with my sexuality. In terms of students, I think AU is looking for well-rounded individuals who are passionate about things they care about.
@samschoe That’s awesome! My unweighted isn’t as high also because I’ve taken over 11 AP Classes and 10 Dual Enrollments. Is there a way for me to let them know about that? Also, being a low-income hispanic male from florida, would that affect my chances of admission?
I attended an AU info session in November and according to my regional rep: the admissions staff occasionally tries to push the ED1 decisions out prior to the admissions office closing for their winter break (~Dec. 15). Can anyone validate this??
Whoa I had no idea ED decisions could potentially come out super soon! That’s incredibly exciting good luck everyone!
And the best of luck to you @deazy98!
I received my decision on the 18 of December last year!
Just finished the webinar on the details of the AU admissions process! During the session, they confirmed that the ED1’s would be back in approximately two weeks; arriving via the US Postal Service (the old-fashioned way…no email/telephone this year) (What a shame…I’ll be out of the country then. I might ask my next-door neighbors to check for me !)
I was at the webinar too! They said two weeks?:((( @thchaffman and I hope attending webinars implies demonstrated interest:p it was pretty informative though! Best of luck to all of you! And I think international students get their decisions through email!
