8:00 pm? Wow, that is a full day of anxious waiting then. It doesn’t help me feel like it is forever that I know three ED admits to Cornell who found out on the first. I am just slowly being driven nuts about this. Does anyone else have moments where they think they were stupid to apply early to Williams because they have no chance and should have tried early elsewhere? When I look at some of the stats, it seems such a hunk of the early admits to Williams are hooked legacies or athletes.

snubba - same for me! Sometimes I think well this can work and sometimes I could kick myself for giving away the ED-‘hook’ to a school like Williams. Apart from that I’m not even sure anymore if it is still my top choice…but it is definitely still my second choice. I know I sound like I totally messed up with my applications, so there’s no need to tell me ;). But I would still freak out if I got accepted. The only thing is that I would rather have tried for a school with warmer weather, I’m actually not really into those super cold winters…

8 pm!!! That’s like 4am of the following day in Albania! I am sure I ain’t sleeping that night, so it might as well be 6am.

It’s awful though. The wait. @kmac0808 I went full-on sleuth about a week ago about this stuff. I needed a productive way to channel anxiety. Plus seeing people freak out just as much as I have is oddly soothing.

@marvin100 I hope my roots will give me a boost in getting in. It would be the first time they have helped me, at all.

Yeah, its like I asked Williams to marry me and they are going to turn me down. I am sure they know who they are accepting by now. Does anyone know the rationale for letting us know in the evening? I haven’t heard of anyone hearing from ED later than 5pm est. Emuil12, Williams is still the first choice for me. I almost don’t care where else i would go so you may be in a better position at this point.

Are you guys sure that it’s 8 PM? I’d rather go for 8 AM, it makes more sense…why should they wait that long? A ‘real’ December 15th notification should apply to more than a bunch of people on the west coast, don’t yout think? But well I actually have no idea.

@Eumi
It was definitely 8 PM. Here’s the thread from last year:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/williams-college/1036134-official-2015-williams-ed-thread-9.html

Yikes!! Just looked at the thread from last year. The deferral letter actually quotes that 15-20 deferred individuals get accepted regular decision? That is like no chance then, do you guys think a def feral is a rejection? Someone tell me I’m wrong!

i hope its not just like a rejection. Is there any chance the results will come out earlier than the 15th?

William’s website says ON the 15th, so I doubt they would notify any earlier because they would be contradicting themselves. GRRRR.

hahaa it’s so funny to read all those post of the super anxious kids for the class of 2015…and then finally they do get all their notifications and are either super happy or disappointed, and that’s it. It’ll be the same for us soon!!

Does anyone know if Williams ever requests 1st quarter grades from guidance counselors for ED applicants?

Yes, they called DS’s school last week to inquire about grades. The GC did not share whether or not it was only first quarter grades or that and grade to date on second quarter. She did say that they told her they were just starting the process. Found that hard to believe until I saw the Record article that said they began on 12/6. I don’t see how they could review 500 plus apps in three days!

does anyone know if we also receive decisions via mail? and if so when that is sent out? i’m kind of hoping there’s a chance i would receive it on wednesday. or even earlier on thursday (as opposed to 8 pm)! haha

So far I’ve seen a few people overjoyed by acceptances and a few crushed by rejections. Good luck to you all! No matter what happens on Thursday, this whole college process will pan out the way it was meant to.

@vershirelove - Doubtful - assuming the process is the same as in prior years decisions are released online at the specified time (2 years ago it was 8 pm as well) - letters come in the mail a few days later.

Honestly, this is cruel!

They started on 12/6?? Really? At Harvard they finished on 12/6 and are spending this week putting FA packages together-- according to folks in Cambridge. I would think that the same would be more or less true at Williams-- but I guess it is all academic bc Thursday all will be known–one way or the other (or deferred–almost as bad…)

good luck to all!

Etondad,
Do you think deferred is a soft rejection? I read somewhere that the deferred and then admitted rate was quoted in the letter from Williams as 20 or so likely admits from the deferred pool. What is your take?
